Well im entered for the saturday. will be a good chance to learn about the track and see what a driving instructor has to say. The lady told me they only had 30-40 entries for sat so there will be lots and lots of track time. Hoping to borrow your performance box if we are in different groups doug :D

anyone else?..
Excellent. Mal is not driving after all. Should try and get in the same group so I can get some more video of you scooting away from me. Gap should be significantly greater at PI given more time on boost.

Had another thought re timing. I might be able to borrow a mate's Performance Box and lend it to you for the day. I'll chase up on Monday. He's not racing having had a kid recently so I reckon he'll be happy to lend it to us. We can then time all laps and I can then download and overlay.

I'll be aiming to get down there about 7:30am to get a good spot in the pits. Numbers sound low - normally 100 or so at these days. 40 would be great!

doug that sounds perfect! i'm going to hook up the cigarette lighter power today and then being in the same group will be good fun. I've got plenty to learn at the island and was going to have one of their trainers to come for a session or two. Hopefully your mate will be fine about the performance box and we'll compare data

All set:

- mate's Performance Box being dropped off tomorrow (get that socket hooked up Leigh!)
- new 205/50 x 15 Toyo R888s all round (my first new set of semis)
- new Race Brakes RB74 front pads
- checked drum rears (bugger all wear shows how little the rears are used - no new shoes since I have had the car)
- new high temp brake fluid
- flushed clutch fluid

Here's hoping for a sub 1:58??

Well i'm all ready to go now, car is loaded up and i'm working till 11 then driving down tonight.

On a small side note i had a hell of a time trying to track down 10w30 mobil one oil today as i have been running it and wanted to do an oil change. Apparently they don't make that viscosity any more and i had to buy 6l of the new 5w30, cost me $110!

anyone get good prices on the 20L drums?

$110  holly sh*t. Time to find another oil me thinks. When I wing my sump I'll have to put in about 6l as well. So $100-$110 plus filter for a oil change is a bit rich. I've always used mobil 1 as its great oil but, not for that price.

yeah it was pricey - that was full retail for a 5L bottle and a 1L bottle from rapeco. for 20L i got quoted $295 full retail (bursons) and then i was going to get a mate to get it trade, just needed it right then and there :(

good oil tho, and i guess good insurance for the $4500+ i've spent on my engine :chaching:

Yeah, top day. 36 laps, about 160km of flat out racing. Car ran perfectly all day except the gearbox has developed the death rattles. New R888s were great. Best lap of 1:57.8 for the day which was 1.1 better than my previous best, matched Leigh's previous best and was 0.1 faster on the day than Leigh.

Amazing how close the 2 cars were. Leigh has the legs on me on the straights but I catch up under brakes (??) and seem to be able to hook up earlier on the way out of the tighter stuff. I'll upload the Performance Box data from Leigh's car and my car during the week and we can see speeds and differences in G forces etc.

For now, here's the first vid including collecting a flock of Galahs at the last turn. No Leigh in this one, he appears in the other vids which I will upload shortly:
