See:

Detailing information on:

Centre dividing line, lane lines and painted islands [PDF, 408kb, 2pp]
Using Child Restraints and Booster Seats [PDF, 215kb, 2pp]
Cyclists [PDF, 247kb, 2pp]
Drivers and riders [PDF, 234kb, 2pp]
Driving with trams [PDF, 346kb, 2pp]
Motorcyclists [PDF, 230kb, 2pp]
Parking [PDF, 247kb, 2pp]
Scooters, skateboards and roller blades [PDF, 231kb, 2pp]
Seatbelts [PDF, 198kb, 2pp]
Using mobile phones and visual display units [PDF, 311kb, 2pp]

particular attention should be paid to the centre dividing line, lane lines and painted islands one.

Just another bunch of laws/rules to add to the existing line markings/signs/variable speed limits/incompetent drivers/ and extremely crap road layouts and road quality, and all the other crap we have to put up here in Victoria.

Some of these laws are bloody stupid.

They are being introduced as part of Victoria’s 10 year road safety strategy, arrive alive 2008-2017." aims to reduce road toll by 30% by 2017.

what a spin of croc.if they are serious then why take ten years for 30%,they should talk to Penny Wong and get her to stuff it up properly.she might get 20% by 2020.

traffic island and baby seat rules just look like the rules from the rest of australia.
dont know about tram rule changes but not as silly as some of our bus rules.

They should concentrate on training drivers properly, and I don't mean imposing stupid restrictions on p-platers, I mean actually training them.

L Platers should have proper driver training courses available to them at a discount. The best way to reduce the road toll is to make sure people can actually drive safely on the road, instead of making petty, unnecessary laws.

But unsafe drivers can be fined, which raises revenue, and subsidising driver safety programs for young drivers would cost money.

One thing I loved in NZ was when it was No Standing or Parking, they had a yellow broken line along road around 30cm out from the kerb to indicate this, no more looking for signs.

Also loved the lack of potholes

Yeah, I noticed that too when I was over at EnZed. Their roads are heaps better than the crap that we have. Plus their drivers are nicer to bro. Their peak hour is like our after hours though...

haha! As a Kiwi living here I'm appalled by the crap roads, but of course the locals don't believe me when I say NZ has far better roads.

My wife is a roading geologist (can't find work here, they don't use them!!) and says its too easy to build a crap road here because the base is hard. Often you just have to slap a layer of tar and chip over the ground. In NZ the ground is so soft you have to put in layers of compressed rock to even build a dirt road.

Coming from WA i was amazed about how sh*t the roads are here in victoria considering its one of the smallest states. Country roads are shocking

I was driving up near Yea and was amazed to find that the road was much better maintained than my street, and most of the roads in my area. I wish my council would sort these out before dumping lumps of concrete in the road to try and slow everyone down.

Yeah, roads in mornington and Mt. Martha are shocking. Tree roots grow under them and lift up the tarmac. The council responds by lowering speed limits and putting in speed bumps. What the hell?
