Hi guys,
I'm not too sure what the rules are with this down here and I thought that maybe someone on here could help me.

Basically I'm trying to find out if it is worth rebuilding the A12 in my 120Y.
Can an A14 or A15 be swapped in without needing to be engineered? The car isn't currently registered, so it will need to be legal to pass a RWC.
I'm pretty sure in NSW you can do an A14 swap without an engineers cert, but no idea what the deal is in VIC.

Thanks,
Jonathon

Same I think but they go by 10% capacity or power.
Technically they will need it as the a14 and 15 were never offered as an option in a 120y in Australia

Sounds like it could be a pain. hmmm.
Guess I'll have to give an engineer a ring at some point and ask a whole bunch of questions.
Thanks for the reply unfamilia.

you can fit an A14 crank and bore to use stock 40 though milled tops of A15 pistons which also need to be bushed for the smaller pins of the stock pistons as the rods have smaller pin size of 17.45 while A15 are 19mm.
Thats 76mm bores and 77mm crank for almost 1400cc. A nice upgrade with shorter rod stroke ratio that increases torque at low and mid range and increasing compression to 10 to 1 shaving the head a tad, re-grind cam to gx specs, headers and stock carbs will be a nice peppy ride.

At worst just fit the A15 make sure all is safe, brakes, leaks etc. join a car club get it scrutineered and club regged for 100 bucks and that gives you 90 days using a log book.

personally the hybrid A14 crank into the A12 is good enough for a daily and rwc will never know.

Fit an A14 or A15 and just don't say anything about it. I reckon they'll just copy down the engine number and not realise. I spoke to someone who recently got an old Valiant registered with a Hemi-six instead of a Slant-six by doing just that.

I like the way you're thinking haha. I suppose if it looks fairly stock then they're much less likely to question it
