My plan is to upgrade the suspension, though I can't decide yet what route to take. I always like the performance of bilstein shocks but not sure if anyone here had success fitting this shock. I'm thinking of lowering my car a bit also. I saw some threads about it and I found out that some guys are using r31 struts for the front and Kyb struts plus King springs in the rear.

Hi all, I'm Oliver from Mansfield.
Anyone use any rust converter that you can paint over when dry? In other words, no scraping, no wire brushing, etc., just convert and paint. What did you use, how did it work?
Thanx

Hi Gwenago. Welcome to Ozdat.
There's a bit of information on this if you do a search. There's even procedures on how to prep panels before painting.
Let us know how you go!

Hi all, seems I'm a new datto owner. It's taken me 20 years to finally get back to dattos after being given a 180b auto in my early twenties. I've spend the last two decades working on VWs. This was the latest one...

An original paint 56' oval that got a turbo/intercooled/efi 1600 and all the guff that goes with it for motorkhanas. Loved the car, but I just couldn't justify the $3.5k for an LSD... plus having to rip the whole powertrain out again to put it in. So it went up for sale and I started looking for something more modern.

I was actually hunting for a good, low mileage, rust free 180B. Sadly, they just don't seem to exist in NSW that I could find. So, after looking at a few 1600s, I ended up with this 69' auto.

Anyhow, nice to be part of the Datto hobby... finally. Keen to pick people's brains for various things. Can't believe how cheap the parts are! Even compared to VWs.

Welcome to OzDat
Good to have you onboard.
The Datto looks pretty straight! Time for a build thread! Check out members rides and post something up.

Hi Guys, John from Adelaide.

Another Newbie Intro.

The mighty 1965 Datsun 1200 P410 Bluebird was my first ever car (see pic) - given to me in 1976 because its owner said she was sick of it breaking down. Not sure about the breaking down bit, but I was very pleased to get hold of it. I still remember wheeling the impossibly heavy engine block in a wheelbarrow down to the backyard to clean it up under the old man's lemon tree ....

My resto interests are old Japanese cars and motorbikes - mainly bikes so far. But I just picked up the same year Bluebird as I drove in 1976!

The 1965 P410 Bluebird Mk2 (for me) has a 1200 E1 motor and 3 speed tree shift. I'd like to swap in a J13 with a 4 on the floor.

I dragged it back from Melbourne last week (pic) and will try to get a build thread going soon to share my trials and tribulations.

For now, I have posted a pic of my first ever car (painted with green house paint!), and a pic of the new victim on its way back to Adelaide last week.

Look forward to meeting you all through forum. Cheers.

G'day John.
Welcome to Ozdat. It's a bit quiet around here since the advent of Facebook, but there's a wealth of knowledge if you know how to find it.

If you have time, check out one of the builds going on that you may be interested in:

Hi Everyone,

Jake is my name and I'm based in Melbourne. We are currently doing a freshen up on a 1973 1200 Coupe. Definitely not a resto but just taking a lot of stuff that had been stuffed around with back to stock.

Look forward to talking to you guys and hopefully attending some meet ups once the pandemic stuff is over with.
