I usually read Fast Fours and Hot 4's but only because we get them delivered to work for free. (my boss advertises in there) Hot 4's i can usually read in about 20 mins because theres nothing worth reading, but there are a few good cars and articles in fast fours most of the time.

I must confess though that i bought my first Hot 4's mag today, only because theres a small picture of my car in the summernats special! :D

yeah I get Performacne Buildups too - that comes out around every 3 months. What it lacks in frequency it makes up for in quality :)

i dont buy many magazines - (non existant student salary)

yeh i think that performance buildups usually comes lumped in with another magazine, and i usually get that when i see it and have the cash. Fast fours very occasionally has some good cars. Ive seen a good sierra cosworth top end rs2000 escort in one and a couple of nice TA celicas. couple of 510s also. With all of your opinions, ill have to go out and buy zoom.

Zoom is still the only 'mod' mag i buy. Dunno about donnon, sometimes hes alright, dunno bout 240rwkw 1jzgte. Have seen two examples though from overseas making that much power with modded ct12's.
Motor is a great read, well written and always very funny and actually stands up for motorists. The king of caption comments and analogies no doubt! Awesome quality. Same goes for Street Machine.

Hot fours, Fast fours, Speed and other trash glam wannabes all gimme the jimmy smits. They are written for ten year olds who like jerking off on spoilers and neons, and the sheer arrogance of the feature cars owners makes me wanna take a dump through every sunroof onto the white leather trimmed recaros that live in those riced up hondas and 82kw lancers. Written for wankers by wankers. Its because of noisy poofter rice cars and the wankers who drive them like so, that true car enthusiasts are targetted by authorities. CHEQUE BOOK MODIFIERS<------ Thats what these mags are for, because these tools couldnt change a spare tyre if their chrome 10" tacho depended on it. SMD !

Righty, soap box is free, step right up!

I only buy Just Cars/Parts, Trading Post and Unique cars with the odd Wheels and Street Machine. the only time I buy Zoom now is if it has a feature car or mod I want to read about. For a performance Mag those stuck up inbreds must only talk about their own cars as it is only about every 5 or 6 issues you see them talk about a car or engine that isn't a Supra, SR20, Rex or 13B.

And I think everyone has given a decent description of the two Four's mags, "I can't do burnouts because Mum will make me pay for the tyres"

That's my two cents

seing as i started this topic of discussion heres my two cents

Zoom: what started out as a good idea has waned as of late, its ok if you own a skyline, wrx or silvia etc and have as much money as i paid for my house to spend on it,though it does have some great tech articles & the conversions issue was excellent(two sweet 510s)

Hot Fours: utter utter crap, unless you like pod filters and stupidly large ricer wings & pretty cars with f_ck all in the way of performance.

Fast Fours: still a sh*t load of ricers, but at least has some tech & is more performance orientated, with some old school cars. Still a lot of wrx's, silvias etc.

Quokka: bloody goldmine, cant live without it

Streetmachine: nice cars, but i'm not into V8s, mind u there not into four potters either.each to there own i guess.

the rest all have their niche too i guess, but mostly their not my cup of tea.

Cheers for the replys tho, i'll see wot i can come up with next time for some good discussion

Haha, there is a lot of Rice factor in those mags. I love the white leather interior, lunar rover chrome wheels and jungle animal airbrushing, it is very stylish. Its made me think of a a mural on my 1600 - a naked women being chased through a cemetary by a tiger. That or a naked women riding a GT35 Turbo across a frozen wasteland - or a naked women and a harrier jump jet...

Here comes the nurse better go.

owning one of 'rice' cars myself i take great offence with your comment. you dishonour my countrymen. our cars show our individual and creative. to me all datsun look very much the same like old car that should being melted down for new car but we dont be upset by them because they are good japanese car just old and slow. these magazine show many very good car and good custom idea. i like them very much

Yeah the only mag I buy is speed and only if its got interesting stuff in it. I pretty much by it every time except last issue which was ghey....
I sometimes buy motor aswell. I used to by Zoom religously but I that got very tireing in a hurry. One issue Donnon would rave about the RB26DETT (when he owned one) and a couple of issues later he'd say the JZGTE series of engines are the best to come out of japan.

And the journalism in zoom is very average if you ask me. All it is is a spec sheet of the car being stretched out to a couple of pages. Their idea of how a car drives is, 'it gets wheel spin in 1st, 2nd and 3rd'. All you have to do is pic up an edition of Motor to see how a car article should be written although thats getting 'zoom' like lately. Thats why when ever a tuned car is featured in motor or a car that I like is featured, I but it...

:D
