Aaron,

Load is a misleading term. For N/A engines it is directly related to the throttle position, but this is not true of F/I engines. Boost is a much better indicator of load, simply because the boost is what is determining how much air is going into the engine. Note that the throttle position influences the boost also.

So for N/A we have

throttle influences load by limiting the air which flows into the engine

For F/I

throttle influences the boost which influences the load

To illustrate this picture a 150mm T/B (if such a beast existed), you wouldn't have to be at 100% throttle to be at fullboost. A friends track VLT will reach fullboost at around half throttle (65mm XF T/B).

So to answer your question, 12 psi is 12 psi, whether you're at 50% throttle or 100% throttle, the `load' on the engine is identical.

So yes, I think injection based on boost as a representation of load (coupled with a representation of the rate of consumption) is the way to go. Have no experience to back it up of course, but it makes sense.

Dave

Eh? Why couldn't you do water injection there? Would need individual jets for each runner obviously, but no reason why you couldn't.

should distilled water be used for the best results in water injection to minimise build up of minerals/chemicals found in water, or doesnt it matter due to particles being picked up off intake manifold, ports, piping etc.?

Bah!
Tap waters fine! Use a good filter (100 mesh or whatever they call it, just to stop the jet clogging up more than anything.

I been going with regular tap water for years no, no probs except for a bit of discoloration on the turbo blades.

However, the Galvanic Series may have a little effect here, as not everyone has stainless intakes/butterflys/ait temp sensors etc...
