I have 1600 with worked l20 twin webers rollcage etc. Out of interest where do you find info about Mt Cotton hill climb ? I wouldnt mind having a go at that this year as i wont be able to make many of the sprint rounds.

Thanks
Luke

to do Mt Cotton you need

1.0 CAMS level 2S lisence (about $70.00 a year)
2.0 member of CAMS affiliated Car Club (about $70.00 a year)
3.0 Entry fee is usually around $70.00 for club events.

MG Car club runs the hillclimbs. I am a member of that club (no i dont own an MG) http://www.mgccq.org.au/
If your car is registered you will need an extension on your 3rd party insurance for each event.

I run road registered up to 1.6 ltrs
you would be either road registered up to 2.0 ltrs
OR most likely Improved Production up to 2.0 ltrs

to go for a slow run in a stock std L16 click

Cool thanks for that, i dont have cams licence but if memory serves correct the one your mention is the basic licence which is fine.

The entry fee is similar to the sprint rounds so thats good, i would have to run hopefully in the under 2.0l category. I wouldnt care what i was up against would be just fun to have a blast against the clock.

Thanks
Luke

yeah you post them a form & a cheque. no hassles to get it. should only take a couple of weeks to organise.

if your engine isnt stroked beyond 2.0 ltrs and you dont have forced induction then you would be in the under 2.0 ltr class.

The under 2.0 ltr improved production cars are pretty fast.
I can beat half of the 2.0 ltr road registered cars with my stock L16 :)
(but those bloody Suzuki GTI's give me a flogging  )

It's fun weather you go fast or not !
as you said your racing your self anyway so chipping away at your own times is very rewarding !

I have got my suspension half done (the front half) so not sure how it will go this Sunday. I lust admit it looks a bit funny at the moment with the back higher than the front

http://www.mgccq.org.au/calendar.htm

You should do the come and try motorkhanas & hillclimbs if your interested. I think they sell you a day license and give you some pointers on how to drive the hillclimb course etc.

Let me know if your going & I will come & watch

Looks like a plan is happening, they have a come and try day on the 19th of feb which is when i am on leave from work. There is a sprint day out at Willowbank on the 18th so if everything goes to plan be a busy weekend for the old 1600 !

The other thing is do you have to wear a race suit when doing hill climb's ? With the sprints its just ankle to cuff clothing that is made of cotton.

With the first sprint day coming up farily soon i thought i would bump this up angain and see if anyone is interested in coming out to Willowbank on the 28th of Jan for the first sprint event of the year.

I should be out there after fixing the rear main seal for my first go with treaded slicks and cant wait to see how i go after my last 2 efforts have resulted in a total of 6 laps, hopefully this time i can double that number in 1 day.

You can turn up on the day but its more expensive to do it that way. Its $75 if you pay by the Thursday before the meet or $95 on the day.

Dont know why they do it that way.

They start the sprints around 1pm but i get there early ( about 1130 ) as you can have a pit bay normally, so it allows me to get setup with my stuff and give the car a good check before i go out on the track. Will be more important this time as i have some treaded slicks which have just enough tread to use on the track but not the street.

I think if you have a level 2 cams licence thats ok, but best to give them a call and confirm. Then yeah its just the $75 or $95 from there.
