Hi, just upto putting the guys back in the doors and have out the fronts in but the lock knob doesn't seem to be moving freely when I try and lock/unlock the doors, does anyone have a diagram or info on what I've done wrong or why they arnt doing what their supposed to? My rear doors are working a treat after installation! Cheers Brett

Just in case...
One thing to note with the Datsun 1600 front door locks, they only operate with the doors closed.
You can't lock the doors then close them - trying to lock the door then slamming it to try and make the door close is not cool.
You need to lock them from the inside with the front doors closed, or using the key.

Back doors are "normal" - they lock or unlock any time

Having said all that, I need to get off my butt and fix my own front door locks too!

Mostly OK, needs typical rust and panel work.

Ha plus 1 for the above was thinking the same thing regarding being open and closed but was from a datsun 1200 point of view.

The major reason behind the way the front locks work was a selling point over the competiors as you could not lock the keys in your "DATSUN"

I havent tried on a 1600 but if you hold the handle up while you close the door shouldnt it stay locked?
