Hi Everyone

Had a dream run for many years with my 1984 280c.

Still starting fine and generally running well. Just installed a new high performance battery and fuel injectors.

But, suddenly started to konk when I'm pulling up at stop signs and lights. Also blowing white smoke on first start up each day. Been checked for gaskets, cracked head etc.

It seems that something might be closing or shutting down when I take my foot completely of the accelerator.

I'm thinking one of the following might be at fault:

1. Choke - running to rich or seized ?
2. Oxygen sensor ?
3. Vaccum seal ?

Has been to a repairer couple of times but they don't seem to be able to isolate the problem

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks

White smoke is usually a sign of coolant in the combustion chamber[s].
Have you had the cooling system pressure tested?
Is the coolant level dropping overnight?

Hi Nissanman

No, don't think it has been checked. Strange thing... the white smoke only appears after it comes back from the current service place so I can only assume that they're doing something or , rather, putting some sort of a concoction into it. Like 'Stop Leak" maybe ? I fill the coolant and check it the following morning

Thanks
