Need some advice, tech info please. Got given a single 40 DCOE weber with manifold looking for the best configuration for street driving, only other mod I am looking at doing is header, sports exhaust and may be a cam down the track.

Also heard that a L16 Exhaust manifold is a good header option, apparently they breath better than the L20B manifold and bulletproof. Has any one tried it?

Hi Guido, please note I am no expert in this but want to do the same myself and this is what I have read in concern to information on this website

have a read in the engine section lots of info on mods for the L20B

a single side draft can have problems in delivering the same amount of air/fuel mixture to the out side intake ports, now I am not sure if this problem can be fixed with a correct type of intake manifold and not saying that the one you have will not fit but is it balanced correctly, I have seen a few different types.

not sure about the 1600 headers but if you are going for extractors you may need to make modifications to fit them in the Hillman, there are a few types and I think the 200B headers may have a sharper bend in them

please if any one else can add to this it would be great as I may have it incorrect as stated

regards Norm

Out of the factory exhaust manifolds the 200B item is the one to use. They actually flow better than most off-the-shelf extractors. If you can fit those then that would be your best option if you're wanting to keep it factory-looking.

Great thanks for the reply and advice. I was only looking at a single carby option because I want a bit of go but nothing to over the top, it's a 1968 hunter that would be lucky to weigh 950 kg. I know this is a Datsun site, and I appreciate the replies, and I have had both Datsuns and hillmans in the past and for me this is a natural amalgamation, I really like the dato drive train and my first car was a Hillman Hustler.. Once done I'll post some photos if interested .

So just going back would a twin carb option be the go, would any other modifications be required

Cheers Adrian
