Power steering goes 'bye bye'!!
Yeah, recently realised that the 1600 SR conversion does't have power steering, i found out you need rack n pinion for power steering and the 1600 has link arm steering, 'you learn something new everyday'

Keep the photos coming off the engine pull apart, keen to see how you go

Are you leaving the engine attached to the gearbox and lifting the body of the frontcut off the engine and putiing the engine in the dato this way? My mate did that with his and means less chance of ruining that good paint job....

Cheers Luke

Luke,

Good question mate. I haven't really thought about it too much. Thinking of taking the gearbox off to look at the clutch, (I HATE WARN CLUTCHES !!!! - and the stupid skyline piece of poo that I currently drive....) and maybe replace it with a new one if it needs it.

Might make it difficult as I need to make up my own cross member engine mounts, so I might just see how hard it is to take the gearbox off, check the clutch, replace if necessary, and then bolt the whole thing up like you said. Unfortunately I haven't got access to a car hoist, so that might make it a little difficult.

Fitting the L18 was a piece of cake, as we just left the gearbox attached, and 'shoe horned' her in. We have an overhead crane/gantry which worked a treat. Might do the same with the SR!

You can have power steering boxes.

Engine conversion is stationary at the moment.

I am still working on the 16' to try and get her on the road with the L18. Once this is done though, she'll get a turbo motor shoe-horned in!
