Hi there.

I have been looking around at engines and I have noticed the 1980-1981 pulsar use an a14 engine. Is this the same a14 that fits into the 1200/120y? Is the head the same and dissy in the same spot??

Also I know the E15 has the dissy at the rear of the engine but besides that does the E15 bolt into a 120y easily enough? And is the bolt pattern the same for the gearbox as the 'a' series.

i think they are the same pattern or very close and can be made to fit, but thats not the only drama.
Have a look around www.datsun1200.com they have asked this question many times befor.

Excellent......thanks for that.

Are the engine mounts on the A14 from a pulsar in the same place as the A12 from a 120y?

i doubt very much the mounting brackets are the same - but the mounting points on the block should be (or close - if not there should be the captive holes there anyway).

the E15 dizzy goes into the A14 hole with a few small mods. search for "E15+dizzy" on http://www.datsun1200.comand you'll find everything you need to know.

Yeah as PRO said there should be holes for them atleast, just use the A12 mounts, you may also need 'spacer plates' to get it to bolt in properly.

Spacer plates are just a flat bit of 5/6mm steel with 2 holes in it, im pretty sure its been covered befor so if you get stuck have a search around.

I was thinking about fitting an e15 into the 120y....I know the e15 dissy hits the firewall and I will have to cut the firewall to clear it but how car out would e15 mounts be from an a series mounts?

If your going to the extent of doing an E15 swap i hope its going to be atleast an E15ET motor?
Otherwise ill be sticking with an A14/15 with webers or something.

They wouldn't be so far out that abit of cutting and welding couldn't fix!
did you go look around www.datsun1200.com ? i think somebody there has done it.
