Hello,

I've just bought a Datsun 240Z with an L28 motor in it. I was wondering what grade of oil people use? The previous owner reckons it was overhauled 40k k/m's ago.

Thanks,

Rod

Congrats on your purchase Rod! Now that you've got a 240, don't let it go!
I use Penrite HPR30 (15W30 IIRC). It?s Australian made as well.
I've never had any problems with this Oil in my L28, & it gets turned to 7000rpm regularly...

Thanks for that Lurch. On another note, I just discovered a vacuum leak last night. There's what appears to be a one way valve mounted in the middle of the balance tube on the inlet manifold, it doesn't have anything connected to it! Does this connect up to the crankcase breather?

Thanks,

Rod

Yep, thats the ERG or EGV or ERV valve or whatever its called... :?
And it IS suppose to be connected to the crankcase, to vent fumes back into the induction system.
