Well as the topic says i have a few little problems, last ngiht i check the oil in my daily to find the second i ripped the oil cap off it stunk like juice and had a ll the gunk around the cap, whats everyones diagnosis?

i was thinking maybe a ring or a slight head gasket.

water is fine, plugs look fine except one because it is a toyota  they have the long plastic plugs and the plastic on one looks like it has rusted some how and has arc marks, apart from that all the sensors look to be in good condition, i am a little sus about the oxy sensor tho

opinions will be most appreciated

Joe

the seal in the back of the fuel pump is dead.

it's leaking into the timing cover and down into the sump.

my old man had this happen on his corona, we couldn't work out why the sump kept filling up so high and reeking of fuel everytime we took the oil cap off - also the sump being so full it was blowing smoke no-end.

change it and change it quick. fuel in the sump is a ticking time bomb.

got me stumped.

5SFEs are generally a very reliable unit - but it's EFI so gawd knows wtf is going on there.

it has run rich ever since i owned it, well atleast that is what it feels like, i am getting 300ks of a 55ltr tank, that is nursing it aswel and on BP's 98ron. the best thing i have come up with is the one of my leads or plugs are faulty and it is running rich and the fuel is not getting ignited properly and maybe a shitty ring and the fuel is slipping passed the piston , or possibly the same above and i have a dead o2 sensor. dont know why but i am susof the O2 sens

what do you guys think?

I would get that seen to pretty quickly, it doesnt sound good at all. That much fuel cannot be helping hold oil on the cyl walls. Have you checked your temperature sensor as well? If the computer thinks the motor is cold it will enrich the mixture. 300km out of 55l is disgraceful fuel economy.

For something like temp sensors I would try to get my hands on some data on the sensor so that you know what to look for, then drop the thing in some hot water (without getting the connectors wet). I like testing cheap simple things first and then working my way up to the more expensive stuff. Could also be worth getting another celica or camry and doing some side by side tests. Alternatively a toyota dealer cant be too far away?

The only reason I suggest a Toyota dealer is that they would see more of that motor than anyone else in the country and have all the appropriate factory service manuals, test equipment etc etc. Acknowledged though, dealers charge an arm and a leg.
