yes an L head can bolt to a Z block. L and Z blocks are just about identical.

a Z18ET turbo will outperform an L16. a carby Z18S will have no more performance than an L16.

nope. but while its off, its a good idea to get it reco'd with new valve guides and stem seals. Not expensive, and the cam/rockers/towers are super easy to R&R. Depending on your budget, you might get some mild porting/cleaning up done.

Errol from Datrats has some George Fury cam grind information available . http://www.datrats.com.au

The z18et twin butterfly throttle is body is often replaced with an rb30et or xf falcon which I believe requires some cutting and welding.

Specialised Power Porting in Victoria do some wonderful things with the intake manifold, but its big $.

FJ20t injectors are a direct fit and a cheap upgrade in terms of flow. Just need the right sized grommets.

550cc 13bt are also dirt cheap, but you may want to get some barbs machined into the oring fitting if you use the stock fuel rail. Other wise a custom unit is the go.

Have a look for cracks around the rear-most head bolt seats.
