Hey Guys

Im hoping someone has the info on this...im using the datsport fitting/handling kit for dropping an sr20 into a 1600, and am going to be running r31 struts/z32 calipers/296mm rotor up front and r31 calipers/260mm rotor on rears. What kind of offset wheels will i need to run? If possible im looking at 15" wheels, or if needed 16".

Cheers
Ben

Use the BACKSPACE as a dimension, you can always convert that to an OFFSET dimension once you decide the WIDTH of the wheels
There are a couple of utilities that will help here: -

thanks for that mate..although i have to say, im not really sure how to figure it out. im looking, and trying, but that doesn't translate to answers for me!

basically im not fussed on width, as long as its suitable for putting down the power and it fits the struts..and as for offset, if it doesnt look ridiculous im happy

I guess what im asking is, has anyone done this particular setup and from experience do they know what wheels fit? Unless someone is willing to do the calculations, because honestly i dont know how

To give yourself a ballpark figure, try this.
Clamp a straight edge on the wheel mounting face of the hub and measure the dimension from that face to the strut tube, just below the lower spring seat.
The maximum backspace is 10mm less than the above measurement.
Dimension "A" in the formula
That gives a wee bit of space for the bulge, if any, of the tyre sidewall.

Now measure outwards of the wheel mounting face to a point approx. 15-20mm inside of the guard lip viewed from above.
That will give you the overall width of the rim.
Dimension "X" in the formula.
Specified [manufactured] rim width is approx, 20-25mm less to account for the thickness of the alloy rim.
e.g. if you measure 170mm, the rim width is 150mm or 6".
Then you can use the magic formula in the Conversion Chart above to calculate the approx. wheel offset, "B" in the formula

Ben,
Quite a few choices of 15/16" rims that will fit your struts & Datsport kit.
What type of rim do you like ?

16x7 +35mm. I'm running Watanabe RS8's. and they fit fine.
Do a search on here, and you'll find a few!
Check the 'x-factor' of the wheel so your calipers don't hit the inside of the wheel.

Thanks Graeme, appreciate your explanation and help

Baz, im always changing my mind but ultimately im going to be getting something 'older' style, the watanabe rs8's like SR20Datsun mentioned are what i roughly have in mind, or something like the superlights, im never quite sure!

Cheers Tyrie, i reckon ill be going for something older style, im not overly interested in having the later style wheels on it..

I think 16" may be the go :D

This is all helps! Im getting closer to making decisions now hahaha
