people will say "dont do it" and i would agree 4inches is wwaayy to much, its going to bottom out on every crevis and pothole,if its just for looks it will look bogan as.
in saying this,i cut my springs on a 200B dropped it 2inches and havnt looked back since.
just make sure you ziptie it down so it cant pop out.

Obviously if you buy some decent aftermarket ones it would be better, but if your poor(like me) its defs the go.

OK, if you're gonna do it even though you know it's illegal, then you should know why.
Cutting springs with an oxy torch overheats them and screws the tempering. So if you must cut 'em, use a hacksaw or angle grinder, take your time and don't let it get too hot and the spring will be OK. Then all you have to worry about is the spring rate, installed height, available travel (and bumpstop length), free length, damper compatability, ground clearance, guard clearance and suspension geometry.
Of course, if you have all these other things calculated then you can get your ideal custom made springs made up at a spring works quite cheaply. As long as you know what you need they make 'em. It's a cheaper alternative to the name brands.

Alternativley you could just get your springs reset. That way your not just chopping a piece of spring out. You still have a full spring which sit's in properly you don't have to worry about the springs being too soft as after they've reset them they re temper them so there hard as! And it saves you buying new springs. And I don't think it's that expensive! Having said that I've cut bucket loads of springs in buckloads of different cars! Haha.
