Hi

I decided that since I have made my contribution towards info on the VL Magna combo I thought I'd put together some info I have collated specificly on the Hilux combo and also to take out some confussion for new commers.

The information below has been gathered from posts made on here and other Datsun sites, if any information is missing or not correct please feel free to post a reply and I'll make sure I update this first post.

Callipers:
Toyota Hilux surf / 4runner 4pot front callipers which are stamped S13w which the donor car has vented rotors and in turn the 24mm thick DBA425 Slotted rotors can be used.

Alternatively you can also use the S12 callipers which are used for the mm non vented rotors but would have to be either have the centre of the calliper machined out or spaced out to accept the 24mm thick vented rotor and use the thinner S13w pads.

Weight:
5kg each calliper for both sttagered and equal pistons.

Rotors:
Blank Mitsubishi Verada DBA425US (U = undrilled S = Slotted) 276x24mm rotors, these need to be drilled with 12mm holes to suit M10 bolts and a PCD of 4x105mm.
The centre needs to be bored out to suit the Datsun hub, the rotors then just bolt up to the rear of the hub.

Struts:
240K (with 270mm rotors), C210 (same 270mm rotors), Stanza 1980 models and up, oh and some 200B struts can be used but must have a 3.5” bolt hole spacing on the calliper mounting ears.

Notes:
The mounting ears on the struts have to be machined 3.5mm to centre the calliper within the rotor, struts have to be swapped from left to right thus placing the callipers onto the front of the car to avoid them from clashing with the tie bars. Brakes fit under 15” rims but can be made to fit under 14” or even 13” rims by using the smaller Magna 255mm rotors and the 240K/200B struts which have 253mm rotors on them.

Hope this helps out those looking at performing this conversion, sicne it is worthwhile for the money spent and availability of parts, the only con woudl have to be the wheight of these calipers and some times the cost of the units them selves depending on the suplier.

Any other info I may come across I'll make sure it gets added to this post, together with some images and hopefully even a tutorial on how to put it all together.

can also use the small rotor 240k struts (253mm), and use dba411 galant/GSR rotors which are again, same dimensions but smaller diametre, 256mm. and this setup will squeeze inside most 14" wheels. a rather expensive rotor though.

Is there anything lighter than using the s13w hilux caliper (4 pot)? What dose a standard caliper weigh? Its going to be a track car. Cheers Jay

You are possibly wrong in a few aspects... S13w calipers with a 90mm bolt spacing (200b struts) seem to be non existant expcept for calipers from 90/100 series cruisers which have that stamping but have about a 140mm bolt spacing. I am yet to be told which Surf these s13w calipers come off i have done heaps of research but came up with zero clues. Also the s12 calipers come in either vented or non vented rotor types, dependant on year, but neither of these accomidate a 24mm rotor and will need to be machined.

It would be great if someone could post up a pic of thesae s13(w) calipers suitable for datsun struts as i am dying to seem em. If only i knew what year they came on i'd be able to source them at a cheap price.

They're steel and were off an LN106 hilux i think.. they suit 24mm rotors too

There goes that theory!

The only other hint i got when i was buying seal kits to rebuild them is Toyota Prado, but i can't remember a model number..

I bought these from a 4x4 wrecker, i just asked for hilux/cruiser calipers that had s13w stamped on the back of them and they dug them up for me.

Prado's do have an S13w caliper but they also have a much bigger bolt spacing (140mm). And yes LN106 have s12w calipers. I'm on holidays from work for 2 weeks, but when i get back i'll have another scout around at all LN106's in the yard.
