Post subject:  SSS tail light wiring

Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can help me out. I have a set of SSS tail lights without wiring. I need to know what bulbs go where ? I can make the wire harness, but need to know how the bulbs are configured.
Any help appreciated .
elandy2@telus.net is my email if you would like to direct link to me. But maybe the info would be useful to others here.

Thanks
Andrew

from the out to in
4 bulbs
most outter bulb: has a black,green/blue,green/white wires goin to the plug, its got 2 elements

2nd in:black,green/white,green/black going to the plug, its also 2 element bulb

3rd in:black,red/black goes to the bulb, this one is a single element.this is reverse lights

4th(most inner):black,green/yellow,green/white

1,2,4 are brake and indicators or parkers, not 100% sure which is which as mine are not in my car yet.but by the colors it should be easy to work out with the existing taillight wires

the way i have written it with the colors green/white means green wire white tracer

hope this helps, i havent got mine in a car yet to check.I got the sequential flasher unit so they will work different to standard.
on youtube type in bluebird sequntial flasher taillights and theres a couple datto's with this lights flashing

ok just had a look at the aussie version, the green wire with black tracer goes to the indicator, the green and blue tracer is parkers so the green and white tracer must be brake lights
now the green wire with yellow tracer :?:

theres 6 wires that go to the connector,black,green/yellow,green/black,green/white,red/black,green/blue

does anyone have these lights fitted and can verify what ones light up for brakes/indicators/parkers :bringit:

I dont know when i will be using them,I bought them for my 68 but now have bought nos 68 lights and almost all the 68 sss gear so im making a replica 68 sss.I will use the lights in another 1600 once i finnish the 68 and my current 69 im restoring.so im guessing it will be another 3 years or so before i see mine hooked up.
theres a few people on here using the taillights,so they might know.baz at datsport would have to know 4 sure, send him a pm

good call, i just bought some 68' hood hinges from Baz. Also i will try Craig, the guy i bought them from in Japan, he seems to be a pretty decent guy.
I have a 68' also. But my tail light panel was so damaged in a accident (pre me days) that i had to replace it with a Aussie later model panel.

yeah craig from tokoyo-2u is a good man,has been really helpful with sourcing parts for my 68,prices are up there but well worth it for the quality and rareity of the parts. Being an aussie he's easy to communicate with too.

I have a coupe fitted with these from factory.
when the brakes are on......ALL lights glow (except the reverse obviously).
When you indicate.....again....all lights flash on/off on that particular side.
unless.....you have an "optional" coupe flasher......then the indicators will flash in sequence

I just bought the sequential flasher unit from Craig also.

cool, they're not badly priced.....I bought one for myself, and one for Jeff (SX-510 on datnet).....paid about $50NZ for each of them.
so now you'll need to wire them so all red bulbs work on brakes.....and then they work in sequence on indicators.
you need to remove the "flasher" unit from under the dash, and your front indicators will be wired from the sequential unit

$50 for the flasher, thats is good, mine was $202 another $710 for my sss lights(with postage), another $90 for the hard covers for the backs and I also got the factory sequentil flasher wiring harness for $70,so its only a matter of plugin the plugs together and it should all work :)

wow....ripped off hard out!!!
other prices arent too bad.....but you got ripped hard on the sequential unit.
think theres a sequential unit on there at the moment for around the $50-60 mark.

Tokyo-2u may be good.....but you can use a service called rinkya, which is much cheaper than buying from him....I've bought all my stuff myself thru rinkya (lets you put in the URL, and auto bid by yourself)
did you also know that the indicator stalk switch is different for the coupe tail lights???

I dont like the look of the coupe lights on sedans anyway.
