I'm chasing a good sydney based auto sparky to rewire my 1600 sedan. Sydney area.

I'm doing a ground up rebuild, so want all new wiring. Im a mechanic so im doing all mechanical myself, a good mate is a marine trimmer so he's doing the leather, but no mates are auto sparkies. Plus im hopeless with electrics

FJ20ET, Autronic SM2/500R CDI, gauges, low/high fuel pumps, alarm/immobiliser etc etc

If you're interested in a CASH WORK ONLY re wire, give me a call.

Thanks, Dan 0429 142 641

it isnt hard to re wire a car but it is tedious and difficult to keep it neet. i have wired up thousends of boats and my fair shair of cars and would do it for you if i had sum time.

i would get your relo to do it if you trust him because it could cost you between $700-$2000 depending what you have. it took me 2 days with no harnes to sart with so a good sparky should have it done in a day if he dosent have much on

Well like i said, i'm in no rush so maybe we could sort sonething out.

Im hopless with electrics mate, it might be straight foward with a helping hand in the right direction, but i dont want lots of bugs or problems down the track.

I know the mechanical side will be fine because of my trade. Need the same peace of mind for the electrics too.

Hey mate

Maybe give Baz a hoi.

I was quoted:

HEADLAMP WIRING LOOM (wiring for headlamps, indicators, park lamps, horn. Includes mounting plate, fusebox, relays & connectors. Fully buit up and hidden)
$650.00

WIPER WIRING LOOM (Can have provision for 180SX motor)
$66.00

DASH LOOM + FUSE BOX + RELAYS, ETC (Varies depending on gauge setup & indicator switch type). (includes wiring, al connectors, relays, custom fuse box to integrate with ECU, etc., radio, heater, etc)
$480.00

STARTING/CHARGING Loom (includes reverse lights, speedo, oil water, starter alternator $140.00

Obviously not cheap but it is pretty much the whole car save the rear harness which is pretty easy to do yourself. I can even sell you an old but perfect rear loom if needed.

The big benefits are three fold for you.

1. You buy a harness from someone who knows these cars therefore it will fit properly
2. You buy it pre made and effectively off the shelf so no dropping a car off for a few weeks to be made
3. The quality from what I saw when I checked his premises out first hand is first rate. i think you would struggle to find an auto sparky who would do a similarily high quality job.

As I said, not cheap but I doubt you will get it any cheaper or at the same level fo quality anywhere else.

Only downside is waiting weeks for replies to emails but I guess ringing will take care of that.

Good luck

cheers

I've posted this on a few other forums, with the same reply coming back..a guy called simon in Newcastle, NSW with business called Zap Bits. He is mobile (extra $500), or bring car to him from Sydney (2 hour drive).

He has quoted $4,000+ for a full re wire including parts. And has said it will takes six weeks. Can someone give me an honest opinion as to whether this is a fair price? Most smarts arse idiots on other forums carry on when i said i thought that was too expensive.

Surely $4k+ is what you'd expect to pay for a re wire in a shop (bill including GST), not someone doing on the side at their home??

I am happy to pay around 2.5 - 3K for a re wire. I understand it's labour intensive, but i really cannot see 4K in it. Considering it's not a 4 meter long Buick, only a small sedan. If you're wondering why i don't just cough up the extra 1K from my estimate, that 1K will mostly pay for my tune or engineers report etc. It's called a budget.

My mate is an auto elec and he charges 3g to start for a rewire then can go up from there depending on how far they want to go hidden wiring, ecu, pumps ect. So id say around 4g would be a fair price here's a pic of his 1600 engine bay to give you an idea of the sort of work he does :D

No sorry he's in Melbourne was just using him and his car as an example of what you can expect to pay for wiring.
