Hey guys and girls, Im currently running an l20b with series 2 electronic dizzy and coil to suit, however, i managed to burn out my coil ripping burnouts at 7000rpm, replaced the coil and all good again. So im trying to figure out is there a better option as they may happen again, i was told to take out the resistor thing to increase the spark, im no expert on dizzys etc, so hoping someone can provide me with a good option or way to have a reliable spark
cheers for your time

Electronic distributors don't use the ballast resistor, it's to lower the voltage for the points setup... rip it out!!

Make sure you run a coil suited to an electronc distributer, otherwise you'll cook it.

Hey guys, thanks for that, got another new bosch coil, the 2 wires that go to distributor are red and green, does the red go to positive on coil and green to negative,, cant seem to get it to start now, there is power from the black and white wire to positive on coil, i took out the 2 resitor things, one is like a little round cylinder with 1 wire coming from it and the other is a long white box thing with a wire on each end, so i simply now have a coil screwed down to engine bay and 3 wires overall attached to it and the ht lead, is this right??
thanks

The "little round cylinder" is an Ignition Suppressor - not used for electronic ignitions.
The "long white box" is the Ignition Dropping resistor - not used for the SII Bluebird electronic ignition.
The Green is indeed the Ignition Coil +.
The Black/White supplies 12V to the Ignition Coil -.
The Pink wire should also connect to the Black/White wire to supply 12V to the Ignition Module.
See diagram above^^^.

Sounds like the Pink is now Brown/Red?
From the diagram, it should go to pin #15 of the Module.
Check for voltages and a good ground where required.

The dizzy cable often fades with heat and discolours...

Just had a thought, does the coil need an earth wire from the - negative side of the coil to the body of car also where it bolts down???

No don't do that!... Have you got a multi-meter? make sure you've got 12VDC on the (+) side of the coil when ignition is on (black/white wire with pink wire)
to further that make sure the 12VDC makes it to terminal 15 of the ignition module (inside the side metal cover of distributor)

Finally, you did burn out your coil, you may have burnt out your ignition module as well.... Bosch part number (BIM024)

Hope that helps, that's about all there is to it.
