The little bulbs can be replaced, they get pretty old and tired. Also check the connections and earths. Where the bulb sockets contact the back of the dash board, the copper tracks get a bit tarnished, you can clean those tracks up a bit, even just twisting the bulb socket backwards and forwards can be enough.
