Hi all, I have a 3wire dizzy in my z18et and am trying to wire it to an ems, can anyone tell me which wire is which? There's a white black trace, a grey and a black. I assume they are power earth and signal from the optical pickup but not sure which ones. Also does anyone know how many volts to put to it ???

Not sure if the Z18's had an optical pickup.
Bit of conflicting info upon searching as usual.

Optical dizzy's (Fj20 etc) normally have four wires.
You need to open up the dizzy and find out what the three wires go to.
Once you know what dizzy you have then search for wiring diagrams and voltage info etc...

The pickup has an led one side and a photo type receiver the other with a disc that rotates between with slots cut in it, I can't find anything to say if it's standard or what, looks it though.

Sounds like an optical one.
Maybe you have the late type refered to in my first link?
Out of interest how many slots in the disc and is there only one row of slots or two? and are they all the same size or 1 different etc?
It might have a part number on the side of the dizzy body also which might help you identify it...
