Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else has similar electrical issues as mine and what they did to repair them, it makes for a strange and funny story anyhow.
1. Fuel gauge works in the afternoon but not always in the morning.
2. Charge light comes on with the handbrake light sometimes but goes out when handbrake light goes off.
3. Temp gauge works most of the time but not always.
So I'm guessing there's a bad earth somewhere, is it worth replacing/upgrading main power and earth wires and solve problems hopefully for good(i plan on upgrading alternator too) or just patch up and find immediate problem. I'd read somewhere that 200bs had electrical problems originally, just wondering if that's the case or what most owners experiences are. It's a great little car, just has these annoying little things happen nearly daily.

Problems with the Temp and Fuel gauges is usually due to a faulty instrument Voltage Regulator.
Those instruments rely on a reduced voltage for correct operation.
The VR in question sends a pulsed 8V to the above gauges to compensate for fluctuation in their readings.
Sounds like yours is on the way out :(
If you need a replacement, there are solid state devices available that will do the job.
Alternatively, mechanical senders/gauges will bypass the issue.

I had a couple of 200B clusters that randomly started going haywire and doing many strange things with lights and gauges. Due to the large collection I had I replaced clusters in the aforesaid vehicles and that was my way of solving the problem. Unfortunately you won't know if it has for you until you try it.

Cheers, I might have to search for a wiring diagram and I'll have a look on eBay for regulator unless someone knows a better source.
