Hi. I'm new here and I just wanted to ask about the spare wheel well of a 1974 Datsun 120y coupe. Mine has a panel to the left about 15cm wide or so that is held on with 4 screws. What is this panel made from and can I get another one or do I have to get one made as it looks rusty and has a hole in it.

For better responses, a picture would help?

Similarly, your location in your profile would help as a local might be able to direct you to someone.

Based on what you've said though... it's made from steel (as it has rusted) and you can probably get one from another car for not much. Depending on what it is for you can probably get another made or get yours repaired, it really depends on what it's for, if it's a safety issue, and how much it bothers you.

Normally I'd suggest that it would be an inspection / access cover for fuel tank, but my 120Y (sedan) had it in the boot. Being a coupe yours might have it under the floor and that would indeed explain the plate.

But again, all guessing.......

Hi, yes, I think it's too far gone and will have to try and get another one, or make one up. The spare tyre well has a little surface rust where a wet wheel was put in and left. The cover sits up slightly so was touching the wheel for ages I suppose.
Thanks for your reply :)
