Thanks for letting us know about these links for the FAQ section guys.
Remember if you find a link that you think should be moved,
please post it up here.
We're not in the habit of going & finding it for you...
If you want an engine comparison/how to mod said engine post, why not get the info
& do it yourself
Then send it to a Mod to see if its suitable.

Hi Guys.
The recent posts in "the confession booth" re tools, has prompted me to
suggest that possibly a tools forum may be warranted.

Apart from tales of disaster, we are all aware of the value of good tools.
I never buy the most expensive tools ( unless i have to).
And some times cheapies.
Example, a friend of mine (who sold tools ) once showed me a range of
pliers & grips that cost less than $10 each.
The story was, they were made from recycled russian tanks & made in an
old munitions factory.
So i spent $100 on 16 items.

Mechanic I know loves his snap-on. $10Ks worth.
Im in the shop with my kit & the snap-on sales van arrives.
So we are looking at the new additions to the range and the sales man
comes up with a pair of long offset needle nose pliers.

These are the dogs guts says he, as he clamps them on a shifter & starts twisting them side ways, abusing them.
"Good hey, they still line up, made out of special steel"
he then tells us they are $100 each.

So I go to my kit & grab the same size offsets, the $8 recycled tank ones.
We then locks jaws together to see how the Snap-ons stuff the cheapies.

we just about twisted our ams off fighting each other.
The snap-ons were about 3mm out of alignment, hmm.
But the cheapies were perfect, the snap on guy was shattered.

Special low usage tools can be made from cheap tools.

What good tools are around, good buys, how to use them etc.
Remember :!: Its how you use your tool that counts.
