Count me in on the cruises when I have my car on the road!!!

Leigh, where did you get the aluminium tubing from (mandrel bends?) for the intercooler/turbo piping. I'm getting close to doing mine and need a source for the aluminium...

Ryan, the struts are 240k with the 253mm disks. You need to decide on what brakes you are going to use before you pick your struts. for the r33 four spotters i'm using r31 struts.

SR0dat... i got them as donuts from elpro in dandenong. They sell heaps of cool bits and if you pay cash you usually get a nice discount. Where abouts are you located?

I'm keen for some cruises too, i haven't been on an ozdat cruise for years!

i have r31 GTS struts spare(no need for caliper brackets, 100mm spacing) , originally wanted to go coilover on em, but needed the blue one on the road. Might try it out in the new one and put the hilux stuff on my old car.

i have a few sets of r31 aus-spec struts lying around if you havent got any yet

Well sandown is this sunday so if anyones interested there will be a few dattos there and plenty of nissans and wrx's. i'm running different tyres than i had at datnats, much bigger so we'll see if they hold up ok.

they are allowing passenger laps at the end of the day too so i might get a mate to bring a video camera in with him and post up the footage on youtube... i'll be strapped in hard to a race seat, he'll be floating around on the standard datsun 'anti bucket' haha

Well, racing really does bring out your car's weaknesses! i had an absolute ball but have plenty of things i need to look at to go quicker, none of them being power.

I was on two big balloon front race tyres in really good condition and two low profile hard old bad condition rear race tres, oversteer was prevalent! i ended up having a spin on the track which somhow caused a little fire off my indicator wires (standard and covered). I fixed that only to lose brakes at the end of the back straight going somewhere in the vicinity of 200kph  just pushed on the pedal and it went to the floor! i had cooked the rear shoe of the right rear drum and the wheel cylinder had burst. i managed to wash off the speed and not crash, something i'm still wondering how i did...

heres some video, its not that exciting because its mainly the last corner onto the main straight but it has a few moments plus me retiring at the end of the day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvpUfDcw_2U

i ended up with a best time of 1:32.5 and have lots to do to the car to improve the corner handling to hopefully go a little quicker next time

i joined the skylines australia club because a few of my mates are in it and i thought i'd go race with them.

robzilla is my mates brother, he's the guy who took the video footage of me and my mate who was racing his 1200 ca18det sedan.

Ahh ok then, either way good to see you're getting out there and having a go, unlike most of us.

I've got my excuses, as I live in Coffs Harbour, the nearest raceway would be at Ipswich/willowbank which is a good 4plus hours away, so i'm a regular attender at local motorkhanas instead :) getting $$$ though these days.

Just waiting on some extremely rich motor sport enthusiast to move to our region and build a skid pan/motor track, oh i can dream :)

Hi Leigh.. Just noticed your thread, great ride, all you need now are all the 1600 standard accesories, fender mirrors etc. nice looking sleeper wheels.. But they don't really keep the power hidden.. Those are some nasty looking tires..

What tire size are you running? Have you seen my shortnose conversion?

Cheers,

Mark
