Hi mark, the tyres are 185 60 13's at the front and 205 60 13's at the back. i have 16 x 8 gtr magnesium alloy rear and 16 x 16.5 gtst alloy wheels that i will be fitting with r33 disks and calipers all round. i'm just doing things in stages.

I did see your short nosed conversion i was very interested as i'm also goin to do that... all these plans and no time at the moment (dam uni!). i have an r32 gtr mechanical diff i'll be shoehorning in.

whatya mean the wheels dont hide the power?

Now that the car is on the road and running its time to start "stage 2".

this will entail a high mount gt2871r turbo, bigger injectors, five stud conversion with r33 brakes and a gtr mechanical lsd. plus lots of little handling bits and subtle interior mods.

here is the start of the high mount manifold. i first made the merge collector for the turbo flange and then tacked it into position relative the the turbo after a test fit so i can make the manifold. the turbo is still the t28bb but and will be like this for a few more months as i save for the turbo.

Lol.. looks so funny at first sight that you placed the pod filter there.. hehehe.. Why don't you use the stock manifold and keep it looking stock?
Which GT2871R?

No MAF?

I think he's taking a new direction Mark..
Something about the GTR wheels makes you think that he isn't going for the sleeper look anymore...

I thought that a high mount is only used when there is lack of space.. GT30 and up?

I could be wrong..

So what are the pro's/con's of a high mount manifold?

spot on nik, the stock look is going. at least on the outside :D i have some more modern seats to retrim as i was sick of bouncing up and down constantly in the standard ones!

i'm going for a top mount for a few reasons. to be different, to make the turbo more accessable if i blow more gaskets (done it twice though i know the problem now) and i like the look and wanted to give it a go.

there is no maf because i'm not running a standard ecu so there is no need. haven't decided on the final trim of the turbo but it will have the .64 rear housing for sure.

steampipe is definately challenging to shape as its so thick but i thought i'd give it a go :)

Go 52 trim, it's the newest edition GT2871R, it supposed to have faster characteristics than the other two, with almost as much power as the big trim..

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobyga ... 560_15.htm

I want one!!!

I've got one of these GT2871R Turbos on my CA18det, it made 228rwkw on 20psi using a Tial 38mm wastegate. It will be for sale in the next few weeks :)

Nice.. Why are you selling it? Is that a bad sign?

How would you describe the characteristics of the turbo?

cheers,

Mark

I'm upgrading to a GT3071R Turbo, so no its not a bad sign! On the CA, I found it absolutely amazing! The further you revved it, the more power it made, and it didnt keel over in the high RPM range either! It was on full boost a little later than standard, but not much later thats for sure! Keep in mind, I was using an external wastegate, so that lowers the range of RPM for fullboost.

To see it in action, click on the youtube link below, in particular, look at the Powercruise 2007 video: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Realper4mance
