manifold is all tacked together now and i'm very happy with how it turned out. i still have to weld it up and probably HPC coat it to keep engine bay temps down. here are some progress pics...

all welded up now :D. i removed each runner and welded them up seperately with a mig then linished them so they were nice and flat. then welded the head flange on and tig welded the turbo flange on. the flanges were then machined flat in a mill. i have yet to get the die grinder onto the ports to make them flow a bit nicer, thats why the welds are built up so much on the head flange. thanks to my mate simon for donating his time equipment and skills :D

well i've been mucking around since datnats and am trying to slowly get the car a little nicer. after 2door510 ben told me about the intank fuel pump setup that jimmy did a write up on i've sold my existing fuel system and am converting to the more user friendly (noise and smell) intank setup.

I've also done a quick r31 rear disk conversion as i wrecked on of my drums, but i'm nearly finished making cv joints to suit, also in the pursuit of a more user friendly car. the cv's should elimintate any rear end vibe and provide a stronger setup. hopefully anyway!

the manifold and turbo have now changed to high mount, with braided lines making it nice and easy to remove and install the turbo if needed and it will make the upgrade nearly painless. i'm shooting for a gt3071r for an easy 250rwkw but this is on hold until the funds permit. cams and injectors will accompany the turbo. still modifying the piping and now need to make up a new dump pipe :(

Well the race day didn't go so well...

since the last one i had made the high mount manifold and mounted the turbo, making a new dump pipe and rejigging the exhaust so its now nice and quiet. I also converted the fuel system to an in tank high pressure pump only, getting rid of the external pumps and surge tank. One other major change i made was inheriting and installing a custom coilovered rear end complete with cv joints new arms and disks.

while bleeding the rear brakes i wound out my bias valve to let the fluid flow freely to the rear and omitted rechecking it as it felt ok, boy was i wrong! i went through the practice session and the first session powering hard out of corners with no loss of traction (the coilovers in the rear transform the handling and getting the power down to the ground!) but took it easy on the brakes until i got a little more confident.

at the end of the back straight i squeezed on the brakes a little harder than i had been and it promptly locked the rear and threw me straight into the wall, i reckon i was going about 170+

as it wasn't a head on, but more a glance the car is not so bad but i am now hunting for a drivers side quarter panel and a bumper, car is off to the panel beaters on friday

Ouch - that sucks. At least the noone was hurt and the car is repairable. At 170 things could have been much worse!

Leigh,

Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you are still in one piece though.
Car should be fairly easy to fix though (although photos are hard to view damage!)

thats a shame dude..... just means you can get some other things touched up that you may have noticed around the car which you would otherwise ignore.....

as long as you are okay the car can be fixed!
