hi guys & girls
I bought a metallic blue 69 1600 stocker sedan for a daily driver the other day,minor rust,L18/1600 head(10,000kay old),big valves and a 4spd box behind it. 8)
the car was needing a couple small repairs, but by the time i do this and try to match the paint, ive decided to give the thing a quik full respray :)
Other plans ,
body: take engine bay back to bare metal and rubb back out side and respray in a dark met green(i think) .replace any dinted/bent chrome and a quik tidy of the interrior

engine/box: I have pulled this out last night, going to degrease, repaint, fit a 32/36 dgav webber and extractors wrapped in some thermal wrapping, the gearbox is getting ditched for a skyline 5spd.

suspension: at the moment im keeping standard struts/brakes,but going to fit king springs all round aswell as a 22mm front swaybar and the fitment of a rear sway bar.

I am going to try and have this finnished by christmas and on the road,,
I dont think ive got any pics of it yet,an have already stripped the front end of everything,i will take some soon and more updates to come:thumbsup:

Should make a fun daily. I rspect anyone who uses their Datsun as a daily driver (and not a car that only comes out when the weather is perfect) so good job with that  I look forward to seeing the progess on this.

update

weather has been terrible :x so progess has been slow.
so far i have stripped out the motor, master cylinders, brake lines, electricals+ everything else in the engine bay,the bonnet, gauards, stonetray, bumper, complete dash, heater box, drivers seat, and a few other little bits out of the interrior.

I have stripped the front radiator support and half of the engine bay back to bare metal, gave a quik clean and paint to a shorten tailshaft i had sitting around(ready for the 5spd box).
found some really minor rust, mainly just a few screw holes to weld up :D

I've also decided to paint it in light metalic green colour 2 pack paint,if this rain stops :? i will strip the windscreens out,the rest of the interrior out and doors off :)
then its up to the welding and primerering stage. If i rember, i will try to get some pics

dont know? probaly factory blue or black to disperse heat quiker, and give the alloy a quik clean/polish.and goin to throw a lighten flywheel on too.
this car is probaly my less rustiest one ive done :)also the most ive ever paid for a car  the guy who owned it before me was a pannel beater,so all the sills, lower rears, gaurd bottoms etc have all been replaced :) .
the only thing he has done that i want to change is the spare tyre well,he welded a magna  tyre well in to fit in 14" spares and it looks funny from behind :(

I am still doin the engine bay :impatient: about a quarter left to sand back.started welding useless holes in the engine bay(almost finnished just not sure on a couple)
I have removed the seats, seat belts, carpet, steering box yesturday and only have the roof linning left to take out,but i want to remove the windscreens first then the doors are next.

good thing i decided to strip the car back further then originally intended, found a little rust in floor pan under back seat and some on the rear floor

the weather has cleared up :D clouds are still around though

I am goin to pick up some 2k paint up on friday.
been thinking a light metallic green but not to positive if i want to go that colour, ive always painted my own datto's in solid colours and mates in metallics and solid
and now i am wanting something metallic.
what ever colour i choose has to blend in with the sss coupe tailights i have (cause i am seriously thinking of putting em in this one) :D

anyway i better get off my arse and do it
ps you thoughts on colours would help :D

Dont go green, especially candy/metallic, go something period i think. Candy type colours ruin an old school car. That said, i really like this colour but no idea what its called:

Or a british racing green? Thats always a winner...

Cars looking good man, deffinately put the coupe taillights on it

Whatever colour it may be, those whitewalls look sick

I've seen some nice-looking 1600s in white, red, blue, purple, black and several other colours. Whatever colour you paint in, I'm sure it will look great. Maybe a nice yellow?
