I have decided to pull the other turbo L20b out of my other car. I think i will pull the head off and make sure no wasp have got in and made nest, also i am a little woried about its compression ratio being too high. Its got a bigport 219 sss head .Also curious if its got forgies or cast pistons.
Hopefully this one should be ready to run with another snail and dizzy.
I have this twin point mallory i want to try ,just got to figure out how i can hook a hob switch up to make it boost retard.
Hopefully motor in by the next couple weeks :o

Pulled motor out of of other car yesturday then pulled the gearbox off and got a nice suprise :o Lightened flywheel with a brand new h/d rpm clutch :woohoo:

I took the manifolds off,the 219 sss head has had some slight port work (39mm ports).Goin back in a few days to remove the head and have a geez.just need to round up some gaskets to put it back together after a deeper inspection then into the 69 it goes. :)

I am on the hunt for a ball bearing turbo, preferably a s15 unit,I am going to have to put a carbon seal kit in it for this set up .
Does any one know if its possible to purchase a kit for one?

been busy
motor pulled out/stripped/cleaned and 80% back together.just got to put timing gear on and sump n pick up.
was my first time o-ringing a block, the first 3 rings i made up in 20 mins then the last one took me like 3hrs of cursing :x they must of cut the groove a little wider then the others and the copper ring wouldn't stick in,A bit of coppercote helped in the end keep it down til i got the head on :woohoo:

next mission is to polish tapped cover and timing case, fit the timing gear. Then into the car :)

timing done, sump on and motor is finally in :) still yet to clean paint of tapered cover and polish it.

Been thinking of going efi now. finding a decent carbon seal turbo is doin me head in :| plus i know the realibilty wont be there. On the bonus side i will be able to run a inteercooler

Thinking of grabbing the ecu, loom, injectors, coils, throttle body and sensors of something like a ej20t or sr20det and graphing it all to the L series.a bit of work but something ive been keen on doing for a while now.

which car? green car is a 69 douglas,At some stage, some 1 has fitted a 70 model rad support, valance and fenders.so its got the IKI indicators up front.
I have 69 sss dash/wheel/grill/emblems, So have decided to go the sss look

The white 68 on trailer is just past being saved, but has a few goodies and a disk brake rear.

My old 68 is still waiting, slowly rusting :( waiting for its resto.this build will be 68 spec all the way with alot of nos parts waiting for it.

Just buy a Haltech E6X / Sprint 500 or something similar and save yourself HEAPS of hassle. Put a 36-1 on the crank pulley for timing, use LS1 coil packs and it won't be expensive. You won't need to use the dizzy.

It will cost more to fit and tune than carby but will most likely work alot better and run nicer.
