Yeah, and it's all hidden so people won't steal it even if they do break into your car.

Unless they take the whole car...

Looks great! I like nardi wheels, they have that nice classic look.

Hehe, they must have thought the same, this is the "Nardi Classic" model :).

After a long time of doing not much with the car (apart from driving it) I have FINALLY put some parts on the car that I've had sitting around for ages.
Dash:
I got hold of another dash, a tacho dash although it was missing the proper clear plastic front (it had one from a clock dash on it, it has a hole in the clear plastic where the clock time adjustor thingo sticks through, the tacho one is just smooth) i got it cheap, it also came with a speedo which I used (my old odometer occasionally sticks).
So i got both dashes out, and started to make one new dash. First I took the 'new' speedo out and disassembled it and wound the clock back to match the one in the car (140,000km or so). Then I cleaned up the VERY dusty new dash, checked out all the bulbs etc and installed it. Hrmm only half of the lights on the dash lit up, i took it out and after some looking at the PCB on the back i noticed a small crack. So I sanded it back a little and soldered over it, fixed! :)
As for the clear plastic cover, well I hacksawed the two clock dash covers I had into pieces and used the part that usually covers the fuel and temp gauges on the right to cover the tacho on the left. This eliminated the ugly hole where the clock adjustor goes :).

Steering wheel:
It's a nardi classic 36cm in wood finish. I got a boss kit and bolted it on, done haha!

Electronic ignition:
Not much to this one, bolted in the mechanical parts, wired it up to a bosch coil i had from something else, fired it up all good! Seems to idle smoother, not driven it yet but i have high hopes!

Choke cables:
I've been looking for these for a while, there are 2 choke cables needed for the twin SU's but I've never had them, as a result i have the idle set really high so it doesn't stall when it's cold. Now I've got these I can set the idle and so on properly! I just need to make a bracket to hold the lever next to the steering column where it's supposed to go :).

That new dash looks really good and so does the nardi classic.

Yeah I'm pretty pleased with it, going to do the timing and take it for a drive this arvo, see how it goes with the elec dizzy now :).

i put one in mine a couple of months back once had it timed correctly it ran very well. But what was most pleasing was how well the car starts every time.

Yeah, it started well even untimed without the choke on. It idled much more positively when it was on too (no minor stumbles and misses like it used to get cold).
I'm expecting big things! :)

well as usual i found that despite my wishing my car still was not unbelievbly faster. But i forgot i used to have a miss.

Yeah, I'm not really expecting a big speed gain, or even a noticable one. But a non stumbling idle and no occasional unburnt fuel smoke would be nice :).

You should notice a big difference at high RPM's. It will be smoother higher in the rev range. Other then that it won't be much faster.

As i said i was only wishing and i knew there wouldnt be. I also wish washing my car would help but that has so far proved to be a dissapointment.

Well friday arvo I lowered my idle and set my timing (well checked it, i should retard it some but i checked, it was 20 DBTDC and I was like nah sounds good haha) and it runs really well.
Cold start is great with the choke (not that it's actually cold weather right now lol), it picks up revs smoother so yeah happy with that :).
I don't rev my car out much, the power curve flattens off up high so even when driving in a spirited fashion (ie almost all the time haha) i usually just change gear.
