Test fitted my wheels today.
15x7 -1 and 15x7.5 -7 Longchamp XR4s.
Got to give all of them a good polish and clean up, and fit some tyres to the rears.

It should look the bomb (and the wheels should fit nicely) after I lower the car. I plan to just roll the front and rear guards at home, no extra flaring. It's an IRS so the rears should camber in under the guards nicely. I want the rear tyres tucked into the bodywork and the fronts in line with the guards.

Someone sell me superlow king springs or similar ;).

Lol angle grinder? Sounds a bit drastic!

I dismantled cleaned up the head and valves etc and they are all sitting in the shed now.
Waiting for a quote on a 72 cam and I'll take the head in to get skimmed and the valves reground (a bit pitted) sometime soon.
Maybe next week I'll get onto it some more.

Picking up the twin carbs tomorrow though, yay!

Oh yeah I have some B210 wing mirrors in the mail right now, they should be bolt up fit on the 810.

Haha I see I see! Got to get me some lowered springs (might have to buy them new, oh noes!) and see what shocks I should use out back. Up front it seems that VN inserts are the go for keeping 3" lowered springs captive.

I've got no spare XR4s but if you are after some 14" Hoshino Impuls or 15" Impul Pro Mesh, 15" Volk Racing mesh or 15" SSR Formula Mesh then I have sets of those that I will be selling soon!

I was looking for a second hand cam etc but I was told that a new one Isn't that expensive so I emailed off an enquirey off to Wade about the cam. Same with the lash pads, I asked them what they recommended.
I'm in no hurry so if I don't get a reply in a week or so then I'll ring em up then. It was xmas when I was looking so I figured no one would be around to answer the phone anyways.

some of those meshies sound tempting! what width & offsets are they?

Author:  nebuchernezzer [ Wed Jan 07, 2009 1:07 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: My first Datsun, 200B.

Varies.
Narrowest is 6.5", widest is 7.5". Offsets are between +5 and -2. Almost all 4x114.3 but I have a pair of 5x114.3 and a pair of 5x120.6.
I'll post them up for sale on this forum when I'm ready to sell them :). Probably in a week or two.

I have set of low King Springs for the rear. See photos below. What are they worth? $100?
I upgraded to Datsport competition springs being a circuit car.

Post subject:  Re: My first Datsun, 200B.

Got my twin carbs.
They are OEM style SU carbs.
I say OEM style since these carbs are actually from an MG but they are the same type of SUs that the 180B SSS had and it's on a genuine datsun manifold and so on. I'm also got an OEM airbox which I'm very pleased with. So I'll have old school OEM sports look.

They have 1.5" throats and the manifold splits into four 1.5" inlets. The A87 head has 1.25" inlet ports (unless you get a genuine SSS head, same casting but 1.5" ports). So I fitted just the inlet manifold and sprayed paint down the throats so I had a pattern for grinding out the inlet ports on my head to match the manifold.

I'll put a rebuild kit through the carbs and I'll have to set up a manual choke for these carbs in place of the automatic choke the standard 200B carb has. Obviously I'll clean up everything and paint whatever needs a lick of paint as well :).

That's making me miss the SUs that were on my 200B! I really liked those. A cheap, basic upgrade, but really fun and it makes the car sound great.
