Hey everyone, How are all the dato's out there travelin? That may be a start to a good thread! I'd be busting a nut, the left one l think working on my ol Dat. lm glad to say most of the hard work has been done and I've thought about posting a build thread and still might one day. Anyway its a stock car with a few minor upgrades. The running gear is a worked L20 engine with single side draft carb, stumpy 5 speed gear box and standard diff. So stock as in comparison to some of the builds I've seen on here. I have been posting under (newbie) in general discussion, and not sure when i'll become an old-bie as I have only owned my little car for around 22 years. The car was beige up untill a few weeks ago. The whole process and end result has turned out the way I always wanted a P510 to look. I guess over a lot of year's, cars come and go, but how many evolve? Anyway, its been a worth while process after driving the car for the first time in around ten years. I spent most of my time interstate working, and the car just sat like a lawn orniment. I attempted to sell the car seven years ago for $3000 but the best offer i got was 2,700. NO DEAL. I Knew how much money i'd put into the mighty Datsun 1600 and i also know that you never get it back. That was'nt the issue, the car had become part of the family and l always loved driving it. As a driver (truckie) it would of been very hard parting with it even for twice the dollars. Now im so glad that i did'nt cause its old school as in my opinion, abit like me. My name's James but most people call me Jimi. Any feedback or questions would be welcomed as a sh*t load of people have looked at it in the general discussion post but not to many comments. Would love to know what you sr and fj mad bastards think.

Hey Jimi, nice looking rig you've got there. I like the colour and engine bay. Very neat.
Reckon you need a black exhaust tip on it though

Thank's for the comment mac, i agree somewhat and it does need a fat muffler, I would have one on a twin cam cause it does look good black as well. The chrome tip allows you to notice when its running rich and with so much bad fuel about, that happens. The high octain 98 that i got the other day even seemed stale. I dont think too many people are paying $1.60 per litre. I think the wiper motor looks pus and is a must change, gotta get little chrome one. Always could change it. BTW nice coupe bro! Cheer's.

I like the way you did that centre section. Looks like you did something similar to what i was planning and just used and old Centre radio bit and cut it down and attached it to the first one right?

Im gathering your talking about the console RJB510, and if so yeah! The extra radio section and console was something I thought of and implented some 20 years ago. I recently put in the new deck, sub woofer and four kicker speakers in its housing.

I like what you did with the console.
Have you thought about sanding the face of the hotwires so they stand out more?
Look good either way, classic wheels

Yep I painted thoes f##kers three times, (Hotwires) And one of the times, well the first time I used thinners on all the spokes so they were back to original but I didn't like the way they looked. (dont sand) Thanks for the comment Trav.

The car looks good, nice to see a 1600 rolling on 13s not 17s. But lower the back a bit more! You have too much reverse launch! Nice unique car you have here :)
