Sorry didn't get pic of roo damage,it wasn't much anyway. I replaced my super-modified indicator/parker lense with one in good condition.

Went to the Border Ranges short course rally for a look the other weekend, a few stanzas, a 1600 and Wayne Hoy in a Z. That Z had more pulling power uphill than any other car there - and there was just about every class of car.
Plus there was the other usual suspects (both people and cars).

Fitted new and long rear wheel studs, got the ones listed for 1600/180B/Skyline. They were too long for:
a) fitting without pulling out the stub axels,
B) fitting the mag wheel nuts over.
So I cut about 10mm off the end of each with a hacksaw (no heat) and was able to fit them via a dodgy method. The mag wheel nuts still use nearly all their thread even with spacers behind the wheels.
The poor old original studs were just too short and not enough thread in the wheel nuts for safety. I've got the 180SX wheels all round with spacers on the rear to clear the swing arms. No need for spacers on the front with the Datsport struts.

Also made and fitted a steering box brace, not all nice and professional like a DS one but effective. I was able to re-adjust the steering box because I found I had it set too tight and now the steering is lighter and much more precise. I can feel some chassis rail strengthening coming on...

Noticed some surging under medium acceleration today. No problem with hard acceleration or cruise. Could be plugs I suppose since they've never been changed - they were in the car and worked when we got it so they stayed. Not sure how many years old they'd be.
Could be a fuel or knock sensor issue I suppose. Let me know if anyone has had that issue before. Engine is stock S13 redtop SR20DET.

Had some fresh 98 octane fuel go through the tank, still surging or hesitating in certain conditions. I've decided to avoid it by only using full noise or nothing.

I recently replaced the "adjustable camber pins" with standard control arm pins and slightly non-standard control arms. Now got slightly less camber but better handling.
I think the longer control arms plus standard pivot point make things better.

Other than that, nothing much going on - car gets a drive now and then, occasionally flogged a bit. There's still a tiny bit of the surging under light/medium acceleration but it seems to be lessened since I changed service stations, so maybe it was some water in the fuel ?? The best remedy is still full throttle or nothing

Recent traffic on our road, sorry not many Datsun photos this time, I mostly got video (which I haven't uploaded anywhere yet) :

In the process of replacing the rear wheel cylinders - cant rush these things...

Edit: rear wheel cylinders replaced OK and have been OK. No leaking fluid despite a rounded off tube nut that I'll get around to replacing one day.

Called in and see Baz and Tracy, had a great old chin-wag. Also picked up all the front and rear bushes so now the work begins....

Hi RJB510,
I'll be replacing the rear cross-member and swing arm bushes, also got the front control arm and castor bar bushes.
There wasn't any more diff rear bar bushes at the time, but I can do them later, and they're the least of my problems.

Next on the list will be the steering box and some rust repairs, maybe a bit of front-end and rocker-sill strengthening. Handling is OK for rounding up cows but leaves a bit to be desired for highway driving.

Got to get new tires too - hosed off the bird poo and couldn't get the car moving on the wet grass!
Had to get out the tractor to tow the old Datsun up the tiny slope onto flat ground - even then getting the poor old thing to move under it's own steam took a while and made a mess of the grass.

Still looking for a steering box worthy of reconditioning - Datsport indicated they might have a couple coming along soon but I haven't heard anything more.
About to start on replacing all the suspension bushes, since they all sitting there laughing at me.

Acquired a 3.9 locked R180 and open 3.5 R180 plus a good steering box. Also picked up a whole glove box assembly and drivers-side dash facsia plus a few other bits and pieces.
The 3.9 locked R180 is fitted with the "single centre bolt" half-shafts, in the car and working as planned :) Steering box yet to be completed.

These will be a vast improvement on the string of standard 3.7 diffs we've had.

Datsport bushes finally fitted to the rear cross-member and swing arms - that job had only been waiting about 3 or 4 years....
I did the front control arms quite some time back and they've been OK ever since then.

My son found and fixed a couple of boost/vacuum leaks and now the car is unnaturally fast, as if there's non-standard cams and larger injectors. There is a non-standard fuel pressure regulator, but airflow meter, throttle body, ECU, turbo, everything else is stock standard red-top as far as we know.

My LED matrix digital gauges stopped working a while back, while the car hasn't had a lot of use I've been setting up LCD/TFT screens and Arduinos to do the job.
The hardest things to work out has been the interface to fuel sender and temperature sender, but not impossible.
I'll post some pics and more info soon.
