The method I've used was easy and should do the job, unless I'm missing somthing?

MORE TO COME
3 bolts and sectioning it means you don't have to remove the hub if you need to remove the caliper bracket for any reason. Also means you can do the conversion on the car with the hubs in, if you choose.

Great picture cataloging of the build, I appreciate the effort in taking the pictures in sequence while doing the work, keep it up.

I actually discovered this on the weekend, I replaced the bearings, reassembled the hubs and was all pumped to mount the brakes, then realized I forgot to put the bracket in
So I could have either cut the brackets a bit and slot them on OR pull it apart. Decided to pull it apart and reassemble :D

Looks like you're attacking it all properly Tim, good work  it's not much fun but will be worth it in the end. Do you have an expected completion time in mind? Or will you just wait and see what happens?

By the way, I possibly see you quite frequently in your AE86. I always think 'that guy looks like what I remember datsonial looking like" but always forget you actually drive an AE86!

Hey mate, time of completion I'm aiming for my wedding which is December 2017 or
At the latest I want it done by 2018 for the cars 50th birthday  either way they are my 2 motivators.
Seems like a long time away but I'm approaching almost 2 years working on it and it barely looks like anything is done!

And I sold my 86 a couple years ago now haha so not me

68 model? Thanks for sharing, she looked great. I was curious, because It looked darn near my first 1600 that I had when I was 18. I miss that car so much! Last I knew of it, it went to Adelaide. Thought it might have been it again just picked up by a new owner!

So what's next on this one?

Yeah it was a 68 too,

So as for my current project,
Current to do list:
- finish rear end, still not 100% sure on diff setup
- repair both sills
- repair bottom of front guards
- attempt some slight flaring/rolling of wheel arches
- contemplating getting it on a rotisserie, to clean, stitch weld and paint the underbody.
- DIY coilovers
- mount cooler/radiator properly, make mounting tabs

Im tying to save up for paint, but as soon as I get a lil funds together it goes pretty quickly on parts :chaching:
Have just ran out of my first bottle of gas so I need to get that refilled too

Cheers

I then set out with my baby on board, got a gas fillup and some more wire reel for the MIG

[ img ]

Made up some brackets for the rad/IC
[ img ]

Had to move the IC mounting hole to the inside of the support panel, I would have had to trim some of the lower chrome otherwise which is NON NEGOTIABLE
[ img ]
[ img ]

flared out the edges a bit and then cleaned up with hamer/dolley
[ img ]

the valance needed a slight haircut, note it is upside down in the pic so the bit I shaved off will be unnoticeable.

[ img ]

Test fitted with all the bits to ensure clearance, and shes good :D
[ img ]

Then random late night decision to pull motor out..

I have repaired the drivers sill, started by removing that piece, then kept digging until I found no rust.

I actually bought a replacement sill however it didn't fit well. It didn't go higher in the end sections and all the bends wouldnt line up.
This resulted in me bashing some of folds flat and re-bending/shaping. Maybe the early 510 sills are slightly different.
