Yeah 1600 for life.
Dave I did have a look at the nc. But the fd rearend appears to be more capable of 500+ hp.
Brakes aren't an issue and will be changed either way.
I can get full front and rear fd for $1800 less shocks.

I looked in to this and I figured the easiest way would be to use large sections of the MX5 chassis.

My plan was to cut the MX5 firewall and chassis rails out and the rear boot floor with the fuel tank and stitch it in to a 1600.

A set of 100mm wide flares and it could all be made to work quite well.

MX5 1.8 diffs are pretty strong, mine coped with 174rwkw on the track really well, gearboxes did not last very long at all.

Also plenty of brake kits available for the MX5.

MX5

track/tread (rear) 1427

wheelbase 2420
track/tread (front) 1270
track/tread (rear) 1270

Thanks guys.
I think ill stick with the FD.
As i said it will have 400+rwkw
My measurements say i can still squeeze a 300mm tyre on fd track width and fit under the allowed +100mm flares

Track time has come to an end for a while.
I had MRA round 4 a few weeks ago and after qualifying found that there was a coolant leak which turned out to be a welsh plug.
I coundnt get to it so that was my day done.
After much swearing and lacerated hands I managed to replace the plug without pulling the motor.
I couldn't imagine any of the plugs being corroded, but it turns out this one was behind the block breather and I didn't change it when I did all the others so it was the original one :(
Anyway I went out to Eastern Creek for Round 5 of the supersprint.
Was good to have a last thrash before stripping it.
New motor and box arrived and the CA has been sold so its time to get the grinder out.

What's the plans for the VQ? Adding a turbo?

What ecu?

I love the VQ35 platform, been considering putting one in an RX8. They are cheap!

Hmmm... 3.5 x 1.7 (turbo) = 5.95L
Destroked to maybe 2.9 x1.7 = 5L

No plans for the motor as such.
Get it running unopened with a single turbo.
Not leaning on it very hard then maybe build it and push it a bit harder.
Pretty sure adaptronic to run it.
Why do you only want 5L?
I chose this engine as this will be logbooked 3D which is 6L limit.

CA off to its new home.
It's served me well over the years.

My bad. Sport sedans are U2L, 2001cc-2500cc, 2.5 to 4.0 and then 4.0-6.

The 35 seems to like being de-stroked if you wanna rev them. But you can also stroke them if you want the cubes..

The factory 7500 redline should be plenty to play with.
Also sports sedans depends on where you are.
In nsw there is only 1 capacity class.
The classes are based on lap times.

Which adaptronic?

I have a e420d that I haven't started wiring yet and was considering upgrading if you were considering their base model..
