No major progress at the moment.
I changed the diff oil out from 80W-90 to an 85W-140, but haven't had a chance to drive it and test it out.
I have also spoken to Lurch about getting the rear arches modified so the tyres don't rub on the inner sheet metal. It's only a small amount but enough to take the paint off. Looks like I'll have to perform the modification similar to what Leigh did.
Got the crack in the windscreen fixed too!
Now I am onto figuring out the placement of the oil cooler, and the associated temperature monitor.
Finish off my catch can
And a few other bits and pieces
Slow progress at the moment.

Well bugger me, look at this rear suspension work, particularly the reduction of sweep angle. Terrific and inspiring stuff so well done, rarely do we get the opportunity to follow such involved and thought through true modification work.

Thanks Richard. Hopefully it will inspire a few others to do something similar or completely different.

I edited the post because the said people that trb012 got his diff completed by, were the same people that I claimed warranty with. The saga is still ongoing...
Your post may have been automatically deleted due to being a for sale post which only has a shelf life of 90 days (if I remember correctly) if it doesn't get posted to.

I hope you get it sorted out soon Nik. Can you at least still drive the car around?

On that note, got any recent photos? I think the last time I saw this car was about five years ago!

Thanks Matt. She's out of action at the moment while I figure out what to do with poor workmanship on the diff...

Those of you who are following my '2016. Year of the Diff saga' will have known that I purchased a Nissan Cima Long nose 3.9 from SWR.
Little did I realise the Quaife LSD which has 10mm and 12mm holes on the carrier to adapt onto the variety of R200 crownwheels and the associated bolts, the Cima differentials bolts are actually 13mm.
The diff is currently with Les Collins Racing, as Les is putting this beast of a diff together for me. It's been a long job so far, but the LSD centre has just come back from Hardman Bros. for machining the 12mm holes out to 13mm so I can use it on the Cima diff.
Hopefully this differential will be quiet...
Installation into the rear will be performed by myself, hopefully over the Christmas break.

The 13mm bolts must be pretty rare in the r200's i thought they were all either 10mm or 12mm

Yeah, that's what I thought, but damn it, they are 13mm.

I don't think I have ever come across an M13 bolt! Good luck, hopefully you get the car driving and can have a little bit of fun over your holiday.

So I have finally made some progress with the newly assembled Y31 Cima diff from Les Collins.
Les removed the Cima pinion flange (larger diameter PCD) and replaced it with my R200 DR30. During this he also removed the ABS sensor.
Backlash was measured at 0.004"

I painted the diff housing, pressed in the side seals from my old R200 and spent a day cleaning and assembling up the rear ready for final assembly into the rear.
The suspension assembly is now assembled into the car, but I haven't had a chance to drive it just yet, due to some tweaks to the front end and not having easy access to tools required at the moment.

Man, that backlash figure is great! the diff must hardly have been used. Best i got was 0.20mm but i don't have access to custom spacers either.

What's going on with the front end?
