Sorry can't help with diff places, did you have all bearings replaced in the diff? Pinion bearings can cause driveline vibes

Tailshaft? At what speed or rpm? Try taking off the ts and the cvs and turning over the diff to see if there are tight spots?

The latest is:
I removed the diff from the car early April. The only noticeable issue without taking the back off was a fairly impressive amount of backlash.
Dropped it off at the diff shop. They checked the mesh which looked reasonable, but the crownwheel had some abnormal wear and scoring. They pulled it apart in front of me. Nothing seemed to point to an issue until they removed the crown wheel. With the crownwheel out you could feel a graunch on the pinion. It was fairly bad. So out came the pinion bearings for inspection. They looked like they had more than typical wear, but certainly abnormal for only the 110k's that I had done trying to figure out where the noises were coming from.
So warranty time. All bearings replaced, no charge including labour to put it all back together. They recommended I get the crownwheel and pinion lapped to ensure no issues when putting back together. I had to pay for this. I could have argued their poor setup caused debris which scored the CW&P, but decided that I would be just happy to get the bloody thing done.
So it's back in the car and feels a fair bit better, but still has a period whine (although not as bad) around 75+km/h under partial load which stops after 85km/h. Still enough to really drive you nuts if you are driving in traffic at that speed. Very frustrating. The clunk has disappeared which explained the large amount of backlash.
I took it for a drive to ease it back in which included easy drives.
I am thinking of changing the oil in it to a 85W-140 with some friction modifier instead of the current 80W-90, hoping the higher viscosity will change the harmonic.
I will also be sending out my rear shocks to get them 'short stroked' as the SWR CV joints seem to not like full droop on the passenger side.
There's a list of things I need to complete before I will be happy.
I ended up fitting a thermax strip to the side of the diff so I can keep track of maximum temperatures. Definitely handy.

All this aside, I took the car to a nice winery and proposed to my now Fiancée! A fantastic day and glad to have the car temporarily back on the road!
Hoping to be back on the track late this year and have the car drivable for a future wedding... (i've got my priorities right?)
