Well,

The car has been 'finished' for a couple of months now, but I am still working on her! (figure that one out) I am currently trying to find a fuel leak, (might just end up replacing the whole thing....due to SR motor to be put in and unleaded filler necks etc...)

As you can see the granny spec 1600 is alive and kicking... Do you like the ride height!

I will be leaving her like this in all her 4WD clearance and 'granny spec' glory until all the suspension bits and pieces are made up and the wheels are bought for the SR. Expect a partial drought until I start posting the modifications of the suspension!!! (and maybe a few photos of the car if I get bored!)

Cheers

It still looks amazing, even if it is "granny" spec.

Top job champ. :hail:

It would look good with some watanabe style rims. 8)

How about these...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AE86-510 ... dZViewItem

I'd like a set of these with the Charcoal centre for my 1600.

You just cant go past the watanabe style rims on a Datsun!
They always look the goods.

I had a look at the Konig Rewinds a month or so back while I was checking out wheels.

They are available from a local tyre / suspension place up here in Newcastle ( http://www.bowers.net.au/pagetext.php3? ... ade_centre ) and from memory weren't too expensive ( about the same as Superlites I think ie $2xx per rim). I could be wrong, as I didn't take too much notice once I found out they are only available in a zero offset :(

I wont be fitting any wheels to the car until I have the suspension sorted out. I am leaning towards either the +22mm offset (or +20 to 25) or +35 to 40 depending on suspension geometry and what properties I want.

Still, I will be fitting either 4 stud or 5 stud wheels, plus I do have a soft spot for the watanabe/panasport/superlite wheel - As long as it's light,l and in a 16x7"

Nah,

Been flat out over all weekends, so haven't had a chance to do anything major. Car is being detailed and all little paint chips fixed next week, so that should be pretty good.

Don't worry, photos will be posted... Plus, i have to get around to modelling up this front end... (It will be done soon!)

With regards to the wheels, Datman55 (aka Mark) imports Panasports, AND I belive he can get you any offset you want...

Lurch,

Yup, I contacted Mark a while ago enquiring about the wheels. They seem to be the way to go, but are pretty expensive. Although they are around 1kg lighter than the superlites...

I am not sure whether I am going to be going to 5 stud or not, so it will depend on that, plus the offset is a little bit up in the air at the moment... Will be working on all of that really soon.

Hey mate, whats the go with the whole show at the mo? (wow I'm a poet)

I live in Blackburn, so have been reading ur thread with great interest u seem to be the man to contact when building a 1600 in the eastern suburbs.

Keep us posted, with more juicy details, I am especially keen to find out how easy it is to "show horn" that sr20 into it.

Cheers man

Hey,

Been reasonably busy on this project at the moment, but most of it is 'behind the scenes'. I'm sourcing a whole lot of goodies as we speak. Some may have known that I bought a 2nd hand Nardi 'Classico' steering wheel, and she's a beauty!

I haven't posted anything because i've been so busy. Don't worry, there will be a flood of bits and pieces coming pretty soon.

In the mean time, see the attached CAD image of an R31 strut modelled in CAD. The only thing that isn't accurate is the stub axle sticking out of her. It needs a bit of 'fine tuning' dimension wise. I'm going to be using this model to fit up the disk/hub/caliper combination, and at the same time put it into an assembly to figure out all the static/dynamic characteristics of the front end, and see if I can optimise them (to the best of my ability)

I've got a 200B front end, plus i'm working on making an adjustable rear end. But nothing to show yet except for old dirty parts. I will take photos before and after all the mods!

Side mirrors are from Revolution Race Gear. They are Vittoria (from memory) and are usually mounted on Italian cars such as ferrari's, fiats, alfa's etc. etc.
