Stuck the roof lining in and have started on getting the old heater core out. Ill try and figure out if this ones busted thus leaking or if a hose is leaking... either way its gotta come out. Tonight im aiming to get the carpet in and heater changed over.

So i finished pulling the heater out, its shagged and so is the one i got from the parts car so its looks like an electric replacement will be the go there. Not that I mind, there 10kgs gone and a massive gap behind my dash now. Also took out the radio and speaker while i was in there to make room for gauges. :P

Got the carpet in, need to put the door plastics back on to hold it in place. Looks OK. Its not new or anything so i didnt have massive expectations.

new steering wheel to go on and standard seats to be refitted this weekend.

Glad you enjoyed. :)

Pulled out another SSS Stanza box on the weekend and figured out my driveshaft issues. Fitted new (old) steering wheel.

This week planning to refit orginal seats, fill up gearbox with oil, complete clutch bleed and hopefully get back to solving my engine woes.

Got HEAPS done today,

Tailshaft bolted in
Gearbox filled up with oil (messy)
reverse sensor and other sensor connected
clutch bled
mounted radiator
checked timing of oil pump, think it WAS out a point
checked the valve clearance on my head, 7/8 needed adjustment.

MEGA EPIC RESULT!
THE CAR STARTS

WOO HOOOOOOO!

But... She doesnt run, timings out, fuels out or something... It runs rough, chugs, you give it throttle and it keeps going but the carb spits and then when it blew a flame out i went    SHIIIIIIIIIIT better not push my luck.

So, progress made = heaps.

Also realised ive lost my plastic door skirts... :( Hunting for some of them now.

Well at least it started! Have you double checked the leads are correct? When we pick up a car thats been sitting in a backyard for years we swap 2 leads over. It runs like sh*t and backfires (pretty flames  ) out the carby but its a quick way to clean out the carby thats been sitting for so long. Just a thought, cheers Jay

Im uploading a vid to youtubz now to show whats going on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9QWhFVGXYU

Checkd the leads and theyre right.

Got a bit done, lots of stuffin around with the carb though.

put the jesus bars back in the inside, bolted the passenger seat in, measured up and made a template for my gauge pod (to replace radio and econometer)

Pulled the manula choke carb off, pulled out the float and jets, gave it a good blow through, pulled the jets out of the elec choke carb to compare (L20 to L16) and there was not much diff, so i put the bigger jets in the elec choke carb, bolted it back on, tried to start it but the thing just gushed fuel everywhere, must have a made leak or the needles broken or something.

So i pulled it all off again, swapped the float and jets into the manual choke carb, refitted. Bent a water pipe too much and it split to changed that over to another one and restarted, result is on Youtube clip.

Bought some new ignition leads are theyre pretty much the only consumable I havent replaced.

Everyone ive asked is leaning towards timing so ill whip the rocker cover off it and double check the cam timing.

pics of inside. Pretty much back to rego spec. Hasnt been this complete since I was in high school

My guess would be timing. Or tuning. I remember when I had that problem with my SUs, I asked my brother to throw some fuel down the throats to try and make it start. He wasn't impressed when it shot flames at him.

HOLY CRAP!!!!

IT DRIVES! :o  :o under its own power.

Spent the day with a mate who knows more then I do about points and carbs. Started off by pulling both carbs apart and putting one good one together out of the two.

Then fitted new points to the dizzy, made an AWESOME diff, cant believe i didnt do it earlier. We didnt have a meter thing to check it exactly but estimated the gap and it worked, WE HAVE IDLE!

Fine tuned a few things, fitted a tacho. You little ripper! I took her for a quick spin around the block :) tip top lovely ladies!

Im so ridiculously excited! Tuesday ill get a permit for it and drive it back to mums place where the bonnet is and put that back on and the sump guard.

So whats left for rego?

- refit centre console
- install elec heater
- fit door plastics
- a few odds and ends and she should be right!
