Dogleg gearbox owns me :?

Keep putting into 4th and 5th instead of 2nd and 3rD. then manage to crunch on the downshift as I miss 2nd or 3rd and hit 1st or reverse. VERY annoying.

Still, it did 110km on 11L of fuel so thats pretty good for an untuned barely run in engine.

Ha, I have that problem with mine on the track :(

I've got a video somewhere of what happens if you try to drop it back from 4th to 3rd at the end of the main straight at Wakefield Park, manage to get it in 1st instead of 3rd without realising it, then let the clutch out.

And your pics don't seem to be working ?

Can you please explain the difference between

- (6 Speed) NORMAL SHIFT
- DOG LEG (5 speed)
- H PATTERN (5 speed)

????!!!!!!

Is the dog leg box just one with reverse on the left side of pattern?

Cheers mate.

Biggest issue is I dont have room for it at home so its living 40km away under a very expensive (quality) car cover until I have space and time to finish it or I can sell it for an amount im happy to part with it for.

I check on it whenever Im there and keep forgetting stuff that needs doing so this post is a future YOU NEED TO DO THIS SIMON reminder.

1. Buy a new battery, the old one is completely fkd from constant jump starts
DONE
2. Fix the ignition. Get the old one off the steering coloumn and bolt the new one on DONE
3. Fix the wiring. You pulled it apart trying to diagnose the ignition fault. Especially the tacho
4. Fix the roof lining. Glue it up permanently or something
5. Fix the reverse sensor so the reverse lights work.
6. Rebuild the carb with the carb kit you bought, pay attention to the accelerator pump its shagged
7. Check the oil and stuff its been sitting for like 2 years now you lazy idiot.
8. Fix the heater controls, its all bolted in its just not running. Wiring?
9. Pull the dash cluster back out and fix the LEDs you put in there only half working
10. Put air in the tyres.

Probably forgetting some stuff but that will help later.

Bit of an update.

Got the old ignition off and fitted the new one. Sortof.

First up, removing the ignition from the steering column is a SH*T of a job. It involves drilling and patience courtesy of those anti theft snap off screws, anyway I drilled a line across the head, enough to get flathead screwdriver into and get the screws out.

Problem.

Replacement ignition suits thicker steering column. About 3-4mm thicker. crap.

Solution?
tape. shitloads of it. wrapped around the C brackets of the ignition to fatten it up. Its now screwd in and only a little bit loose, IDGAF though and I used 4 normal screws to put the new one on rather then the security screws because theyre a pain in the ass.

Also bought a CTEK trickle charger and am leaving the battery hooked up for a week, should be right to start up next weekend.

Cursory inspection of the wiring is :/ I cant remember anything about what I spliced into where for what reason. Going to be lots of trial and error later on. Ill have to invest in a new soldering iron too.

Anyway, thats the two biggest things crossed out.
