Not heaps big on the grill or steering wheel to be honest. I reckon any sporty looking wheel sorta suits them best.

But it's coming along great man. Impressive, maybe a pic or two towing something? *hint* *hint*

Still not painted.... weather is starting to get better and only have a few months left at school so watch this space.
As for updates, the accellerator cable was really frayed so there was alot of friction in side the line and i ended up getting a perfect secondhand one and chucking it in and it drives alot smoother now! i just need to adjust the idle speeds so they sit a bit higher for gas and petrol.
Nearly clocked up 4000km's since i got my P's!!

[ img ]

Fuel cap is letting through a bit of spillage.. i need to make a thicker gasket.
Massive hole in the exhaust.. welded up what i could without taking it off (its all seized together)
So i will be building a new exhaust with extractors, sounds tough from the inside at the moment now though! haha
The extractors should hopefully get it flow a bit better...
Possibly building a custom LPG adapter for a single sidedraft weber soon, should give her a bit of extra grunt..

The Venetians are in now too.
Have had alot of people stop to talk to me to tell me the learnt to drive in a datto etc. Still havent been pulled up by the cops yet! (its a bit loud and the color scheme is.. you know...) i think the fact that its a Z number plate means they dont bother cause its had a recent RWC.

Anyway thats it for now!

Got my new Exhaust on Thursday!
Lukey Extractors, 2inch, single tri-flow muffler at the rear.
Sounds awesome! :)
I also checked the timing (finally) and it was WAY advanced, so i set it to about 12deg and played around with the idle mixture and its now running beautifully, is flows so much better and there is a noticeable power increase now.

Havent updated this in a while!
I blew a head gasket, i got a hole in the radiator and overheated it... whoops!

[ img ]

Taught myself how to change the head gasket and did so over time, but an A87 head i had laying around on it so (so i can give the Datrally one back to its owner)
Also bought a new 3-row Alloy radiator which fits perfect after enlarging one of the mounting holes.

[ img ]

The engine is ticking which i think might just mean i need to do the valve clearances again. Also the heater hose at the rear that connects to the head has a little split in it so i need to replace that ASAP.

Going to get it closer to painting stage when i get more time off work.

So I fused the ticking noise, the manifold gasket wasnt sealed properly and was letting out a bit of air, which strangely creates a loud constant ticking noise. Glad it's gone now. Went for a drive and all went well there is no leaks in the coolant system which I am happy about!
Want to drive it up to datnats so going to try and finish painting it, realistically I can't see that happening cause I'm working flat out but ill make it there in paint or in primer.

Bit of an update, i plan to have this painted before datnats so i can drive it up there (not entering it or anything).

[ img ]

I rubbed it back and sprayed it with primer so it's now all one colour.

[ img ]

This made it easier to see a couple of little dents which i will not be able to fix up.
Theres only 3 or 4 little ones so im pretty happy with it. Then ill block sand the whole thing back with 800grit sandpaper.

[ img ]

Also ordered custom plates! pics will come when they arrive

Did a bit of colour sanding and buffed a couple of bits to see how they would come up. Its not finished yet i still have alot to do. The paintjob was not perfect, due to spraying it outside there are some places where specks of dirt or whatever dryed on the paint and stuff like that. Im happy with it though seeing as its the first time ive tried to spray a car.
