I randomly remembered your car today so I thought I'd jump on here and see where you were at. It looks awesome in that red! Made me smile when I saw it. Anyway put it back together and get some pictures up!

Im surprised you weren't at the nats? i drove it there with ryan (sweet_stanza) and but didn't enter the show and shine, surprisingly drove up and back fine, first time driving it properly since i changed the head gasket and actually the furthest ive driven it.
The new radiator is awesome it sat at about 1/4 on the temp gauge all day.
Havent got a photo yet but soon!

To do list:
Change brake pads and bleed brakes
do valve clearances hot
check timing
fit new gearstick bushes
fix dash rattle
finish off the paint
paint black bits around windows + wipers + rear vents
lower it a bit more

All in good time!

So it only took me 2 and a half years to paint it from when i decided i wanted to paint it haha and i changed my mind to many times on the journey of getting it where it is.
Im happy with how the paint turned out, even though its not finished yet (still needs more colour sanding)
Gotta love driving datsuns! the sound the car makes when driving above 4000RPM is awesome/

I've decided to do something different that a few people probably wont like the idea of, but it will be a fun little project to challange myself.
I've decided to switch to twin DCOE webers and modify them so i can still run dual fuel.

[ img ]

So ill be rebuilding/restoring the webers and making it run awesome on petrol, then ill attempt to hook up the gas.
Also i need to pull the dash out and tighten everything up to stop rattling, fix my trip-meter and fix the heater. Eventually i will get new carpet and restore all the interior plastics and get it looking nice.

Fitted my new gearstick bushes and it made a massive difference! i suggest everyone do the same, let me know if you want a kit.

Today i installed a Series 2 Bluebird Electronic Distributor and all went well, my previous dizzy had no vacuum advance for some reason so i wonder how this will effect my fuel economy now.

[ img ]

I've taken apart my 40DCOE webers and have started cleaning them up a bit. I have ordered new bearings / service kits / internal fuel filters / rubber mounting kits.
Aswell as a syncrometer and a weber tuning book. I was lucky that the spare set of carbs i had are basically already jetted to suit a stock L18, which is suggested to use 32 or 33mm venturis.
This is a good thing because the gas adapters have 32mm venturis, so they shouldnt effect the performance when running on petrol.
As you can see in the photo in my last post i have both a Datrally and a Lynx manifold, im going to be using the lynx manifold as they are 40mm carbies and the ports on the datrally one are overkill.

Looks good trav. Good to meet you at datnats. Took me a while to twig who you were an that was 5 mins after you went... Sorry.

LPG and dual carbs.... Nightmare. I ran LPG twin su's on my a15, same setup wouldn't idle or rev cleanly on l16. Yes you won't be popular but if you get it running awesome.

Talk to baz at datsport. He knows LPG and stanzas well. Something about getting secondaries to flow petrol and mix with LPG I think under load. Gives way better power and economy. Like the diesel guys do it now.

Looks good in red and early headlights etc.
I'm tempted with that yellow stanza in classifieds but not going to happen unless men's stolen, written off or some crazy person offers 7k lol.

Haha no worries mate i didn't expect you to know who i was.

Was it the gas or petrol that wouldnt idle properly?
My plan is to set it all up on petrol (with the gas adapters connected) and once its running nicely like that ill work out the gas, theorietically there shouldnt be any problems but there most likely will be, thats the fun thing about cars though isnt it?
Ill stick to this and if i cant get it running nicely ill explore my other options.
Thanks mate the paint isnt 100% but looks alright from a distance, and in the end it really didn't cost me much at all. Im happy with it and the car as a whole, im sure ill never see another one like it!
Was nice to see your car at datnats, was a bit dissapointed that there were no stanza sedans there, the coupe was nice though. Might enter mine in the next one or something.

I only run gas, no petrol lol. Dual fuel never works great, either one works well or the other not both ( unless you can afford vpour or direct LPG injection)

Wouldn't idle on LPG on the l16. Don't run ram tubes and socks as its really sensitive to draw (signal) for LPG. The a15 got away with it but had flat spot at 3k the L16 wouldn't even start same settings.

Needed a stockish air filter setup but I got offered a stock manifold with ca18 throttle body on it. Worked way better.

Try make an air box for the filters for the webers. The LPG will like it better

Yeah i was thinking about running something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RAMAIR-Twin- ... 5aedb9075c

Price looks good and it should be ok with LPG, what do you think?

Should be better than socks, plus you could enclose it if you needed more draw for a good signal.
