So my name is Lara and this is my pride and joy, Stanza '81 :D

(first ever owned datsun)

I'll tell you a little bit about her...

Firstly, I purchased it at an auction in my town and found out after I purchased it that previously a lady owned and she was the first owner (This lady is now in her 70's) I looked in the books which have been damaged by water that she had serviced it at every recommended km's... WOO!

I had no idea what I got myself into when I bought the stanza because I had not viewed it before purchase, but I'm glad I did as it doesn't need anything major.

The interior had severe sun damage to majority of the trims and centre console, the glove box was cracked and the carpet was ruined by moisture and 30 years of stinky feet (Ha Ha kidding)

Engine runs well, first go, no smoke, but need a starter motor.

She has a little bit of rust which is the down side but can be fixed...

____________________________________

Recently (today) I bought another Datsun stanza (1979) off a local guy who was moving homes and was going to take it to the scrap yard (But i saved it). I purchased it because it had all the panels I need, the centre console, glove box, front grill and lights (round) and some trims. Although it had no engine and gearbox.

So what I'm going to do is sand back the panels and get it resprayed then put them onto the 81 stanza. Then use the round lights and grill instead of the square ones that came with the car. Use the new trims and stick into the '81 stanza along with centre console, glove box, front and rear seats and some other minor parts. Buy some new carpet. Then scrap the shell of the '79 and any left over parts from the 79 will be posted on here for anyone to purchase :)

I'm not sure what colour to do with the Stanza whether to keep the goldy / brown or change it completely, can anyone help me with ideas?

Will keep anyone interested posted :)

Can some one tell me how to fix interior panels/trims ? Some are crumbling etc from sun damage I read an article somewhere saying to sand back to clear plastic so the plastic that isnt damaged then to under coat and top coat it with paint ??

Must be a shorted falcon diff(borgwarner) or something,Silvia diffs arent the live axle type you find in the stanza's.

Put some pics up and keep us updated on your build and good luck with it

Not much left of the white 1979 stanza. Starter motor not working and no rego on 1981 stanza so I couldn't drive it on the road.

major rust in drivers door. The first owner (before me, myself being the 2nd owner), clearly had trouble filling the car up fuel stains everywhere lol.

shapes in good condition slight ding on front bar.

more pics soon of parts selling on the white 79 stanza. ( they have been taken off and in under cover)

Nah that was my old stanza the white one, first full respray I did in my first year of my painting apprenticeship. I sold it to buy an rx7. It was mint condition when I sold it, I got it from the wreckers and saved it, guess it was meant to end up scrapped and sold. It was sold locally in the bundaberg datsun dealer, Sorry for the hijack lol
