So next week it gets a 2 inch system, and as soon as i get a spare weekend Im throwin a stumpy 5 speed in it. Cutting a coil out of the front, just to even it out and over the next few weeks having doors, guards, boot and bonnet off the parts car will be painted to suit and fitted :)

PICTURES of parts bus :)

I'm currently talking with engine builders, have an L18 in the shed thats gettin all the business, straight gas and an SC14 super charger hanging off the side of it :P The builder reckons i can look at 200 ponies, but that seems a bit optimistic to me :P

MORE PICTURES! just for fun :)

Straight LPG & SC14 is a great idea. Remember you'll need the best ignition you can get (Jerry at Ignition Torque recurved my distributor). If you run it as a blow through you can use an intercooler (since LPG doesn't like high intake temps a suck through system with a Rootes blower isn't the best way to go). Don't forget to run a balance pipe from just in front of your throttle to the top of your convertor. Stronger inlet valve springs are a great idea. What type of gas system are you planning to use?

Yep LPG boost is great. Impco system would suit a treat.

I'm not sure what system I'll be using yet, got a little body work to do and the engine to build, then when I'm ready to drop it in I'll start looking into what system to use. Any suggestion on which best to use? I've read up on a few different build threads, will be using a mixer rather than injection but that's as far as I know.

I'm back in Tassie now, had an unfortunate accident and had to bring my bus home, then I got a job that I actually like, and this little bus came up, then the 280zx appeared, so I don't see myself getting out any time soon lol.

Cheers man I'll certainly look into this!

OK, Mixer system. Easy but not cheap is Gas Research mixer & B2 converter. Elbow type adaptor to mount the mixer to your stock inlet manifold or a custom manifold (or custom plenum on 180B SSS manifold replecing the carbies). Impco is a cheaper alternative and you'll need a throttle body to go with it. Size wise probably a 200 mixer. You could grab one with its convertor from the wreckers.
Exhaust? I'd go good extractors (not just any old ones) and 2 & 1/4 or 2 & 1/2 inch system.
Ignition? Easiest is a Bluebird series 2 distributor. They make a strong spark if the system is in good nick and they are easy to get bits for when modifying. Mine has no centrifugal advance and a vacuum advance/boost retard diaphram.
More expensive & complex is computer, crank trigger & 4 coils. If you want to do that I can tell you how.
Spark plugs? NGK BP7ES or BP8ES (motorcycle shops keep 'em in stock).
There's lots of custom bits to make or adapt, like:
Throttle cable
supercharger mount (could modify an air con compressor bracket)
supercharger pulley system, including tensioner
supercharger inlet & outlet plumbing
Air filter
intercooler & plumbing
LPG cylinder mounts & plumbing.

Some or all of that can be done by your engine builder or whoever does the LPG conversion. The government gives you a rebate to help with the cost of the conversion.

With a supercharger and a blow through system you'll want to include either a "blow off valve" or another throttle body between the air filter and supercharger, carefully synchronised with the other throttle. Otherwise when you change gear the throttle's shut but the supercharger is still compressing air that has nowhere to go.

Please keep the updates coming.

Cheers!

Most helpful information Ive come across so far, thankyou!

I've just dropped off the car at my exhaust place, for a 2inch system, mainly because whats on there broke the other day lol. But if I need a better system its cheap enough to take off and replace. Is there any benefit in mandrel bends? Id really like a mandrel bent 2 1/4 stainless, as i looooove the sound of stainless :P

Mandrel bends keep the inside diameter of the pipe constant. Normal press bends narrow it slightly. Sure, mandrel bends offer superior flow for a given pipe size but they are more expensive and nobody ever seems to quantify the improvement. With a Stanza it's no problem to just choose a slightly larger pipe.
Stainless lasts much longer than mild steel and is more expensive. I don't usually choose it because I can't guarantee it'll be the perfect, ultimate system for that car, ever. In 10 years or so there may be something better, or I may want to alter the car. Sound wise I'm not that particlar- I think hot Datsuns sound fine. Your car will sound great with a free flowing exhaust and a supercharger whine......
