Well!
Brakes have been rebuilt (bit of a pain trying to get all 4 of the pistons out at the same time haha)
I have a hilux rear diff sorted, just need to sort out rear brakes and get the mounts etc welded on.

All of this will come together at the end of the year when i have my uni break, just getting everything sorted at the moment.

Have been driving the car daily lately, pretty gutless but i still love driving old cars haha.
Heres a pic of my coupe with the sedan in the background!

Brown datto is loving in melbourne now, drove it up on friday :) Had a problem where it was getting a bit hot so i will flush the radiator and install a new thermostat and see how i go, dont really want to spend a whole lot on it because this will be going in it at the end of the year!

Well I have been lucky enough to lease this vehicle for the last week, and I must say it's a very nice little car to drive :) although I'm not sure how Trav managed to overheat it, I can barely get up to operating temperature! Bring on the FJ though I say.

Bit of an update, i have started installing the FJ20e.

Before:

L16 out:

FJ20e in:

All bolted in:

Heres a photo of one of the custom mounts, i was lucky this car was previously bolted into a 200b so bolted straight into the stanza.

As the car was originally auto, i needed to convert it to manual whilst doing this conversion.
Heres a photo of the different pedal boxes for comparison:

I also needed to use a custom gearbox crossmember, fortunately i had one of these on hand.

And installed:

Clutch line installed and bled:

Next was the fuel system. Because i was previously using the standard system including a carb, i needed to install a fuel pump as well as a return line etc. Stanzas didnt have a return line from factory, but they did have a fuel ventilation system that vented the fuel tank to the engine bay. So i replaced the vent tubes with fuel lines, this meant i was able to use the previous vent lines as return lines. But now i needed to add ventilation to the fuel tank, so i teed into a different vent from the filler tube, can be seen in this pic.

This is only a temporary fuel system for while i get the car running. I am using a VL fuel pump with a carb fuel filter before the pump and an EFI filter in the engine bay. I wired the pump up and ran the wires inside the car under the carpet to the engine bay. I will use a different pump later on and most likely mount it in the boot.

So this is where im upto, and a rough list of whats left to do:

Install early model brake booster (for clearance)
get extractors modified and hooked up to rest of exhaust
get tailshaft shortened
cut hole in tunnel for the gear shifter
run accelerator cable (might need to weld a bracket onto the pedal to accomodate cable that came with car)
install ignition module and sort out the wiring
get the thing running and then re route the ECU into the glove box.
Sort out radiator
sort out air intake

other things to do:
install radio in glove box
install tacho dash

Any questions or suggestions are welcome. This is the first time i have done an engine conversion and am doing it all on my own :)

Bend your return hard line straighter to get rid of the kink in the hose.

All I'd suggest is keeping the fuel pump under the car, that fuel pump won't be as noisy as some but you'll hear it less under the car. Looks excellent though :) good work
