fitted the RB20 today..... peice of p!ss really, alot easier than expected

drivers side bolted in using the RB20 mount on 240K crossmember, passenger side- i had to use a bit of initiative

i welded an adaptor plate on the 240 cross member to fit the new rb20 engine mount.
as you can see in this pic.... good as new

now sorry for the mis-information, the engine mounts themselves are totally standard, all i done was welded a 6mm rectangular mild steel plate, which i pre-drilled to match the original mounting point in the RB motor to the standard 240k cross member

well ive decided to sell the RB20det (that lasted a whole 3 days  ) and go RB25det.. 8)

If i can get the 25 gearbox to fit, a rb20 would be even easier i guess (being smaller).

in the end, Im not the first person to do this conversion. I cant see it being too hard (famous last words  )

im guessing for the g/box mount, using the RB25 cross member modified to fit to the 240K mounting holes

post up the pics once i get my engine package sorted

well, i nearly sh!t my pants when i was fitting the rb25
the engine mounts are totally different! So i went to my mate who i sold the rb20 too and swapped him the engine mounts for a set of calipers he needed for his conv.
Bolted them on and proceeded to fit the motor. went straight in after a bit of maneuvering, but seems to be physically bigger compared to the RB20? clearances between brake master and runner intake are definitely closer

gearbox is going to be an extremely close fit :|
as for the gearbox mount, im thinking of using both r33 & 240k crossmembers as they are totally different to each other

i'll get pics up soon

well... thought it was bout time i wrote about where im upto...
the rb25det is in along with the gearbox, although the gearbox clearance is satisfactory  (i'll have to remove it and bash out the tunnel a bit  ).

- the battery has been re-located to the boot
- i removed the bootwell, & replaced it with steel plate so that i had some where to mount the under car surge tank
- 99% of the body work is complete, pretty much another coat of primer, wet-block it back & paint
- Made up the custom set rails to fit my seats today
- made up the 3/8 alloy fuel lines & fitted them

was thinking about making a 2nd filler pipe for the fuel tank (on the opposite side air vent) would look pretty cool 8) ... maybe
