Well a Holden enthusiast really but sure why not :P

Yeah it has the electric rear quarter window. I didn't realise the later ones had that too haha. Such a mad feature

Gee a friendly wrecker thats odd im sure if i ask my local wrecker for one more obscure thing he will either tell me to get bent or send me through the crusher.

The windows are some of the crazy features i read about the guy who had it was a serious fan but i cant remember if his thread was on here or somewhere else. An engine bay light is genius if it is standard.

it has already had a trip in the car fully loaded. The previous owner had to escort all 7 of us back to our cars which didnt make it to his property due to a rutty dirt road when we inspected the car after hanging rock. this thing is THE pub crawl machine

Alrighty a little update. I would love to get this on the road before my 28 day permit expires but that may be a bit optimistic. Anyone know a good roadworthy inspector who likes unmolested Dattos in the eastern suburbs area of Melbourne?

I've tracked down a replacement tail light & indicator for the left side of the car, they should arrive next week. And I polished all the other lenses in the car - they look a bit more acceptable now and probably light up a lot more effectively.

The part of the steering wheel that has the silver/chrome trim near the horn etc was all chipped and cracked so I just pulled it off, masked up the woodgrain and painted it silver after a quick rub back. I also got rid of all the gummed up crap on the steering wheel, shift knob and indicator knob, so they look better and feel nicer in the hand too. Just used prepsol on a rag and plenty of elbow grease

I pulled the rear interior trim cards out and cleaned them up a bit. Trimmed back the ugly carpet in the back so you can't see it hanging out everywhere (I am going to leave it because it will be a nice form of insulation that it wouldn't have had standard). Removing the trim card on the left exposed the mechanism for the electric side guard window so I cleaned all that up and lubricated it all. The window works much nicer now - doesn't get stuck half way up etc. Awesome!

I've pulled some of the stainless trims out here and there and got stuck into them with a toothbrush etc but I could seriously spend weeks doing that everywhere on this car so I thought I should probably focus on some other things. Such as this...

Check out the crap that was in there! Good thing it was a country car not a beach car or there wouldn't be much left of it

Just tacked the sections in because I basically had no gas left. I'll try and get another bottle tomorrow

Just thought I'd chuck this in too. There are so many aspects of this photo that make me happy. Life is good

Hi,

Just wondering which other wagons have this feature... it would be perfect for transporting the dog...

Okay well today I got up and went to Stephen's garage sale in Mt Evelyn today and got an electronic dizzy from an R30 and bought a new 12V coil. Didn't realise a typical replacement coil was $55! :O

Also got another bottle of welding gas and did some more work.

And I've gotta say, using a TIG for rust repairs, in the open air, and out of position, is a really unpleasant job. Those two little sections took way too bloody long, but at least I am in the filler work stage now and if I wasn't helping my mate paint his Kombi tomorrow I would get this part of the Cedric finished off nicely. Ahh well

Hi what an awesome thread to find on my first visit to the forum. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a White 74 model Auto GL 230 series 260c. Mine has a perfect interior with a fair body for it's age. Your wagon looks great and I will be following your progress very closely for a bit of inspiration as I plod along with it.

Mate that is fantastic. I am looking to meet anybody with one of these, great that you're local too. We'll have to meet up and compare features and shiz. Is yours registered? You'll have to start a thread!

A cruise will have to happen. The old girl isn't registered at the moment but fingers crossed that I don't find any nasty hidden rust I hope to have it on the road by the end of the month.

I was chatting to a mate of mine in Adelaide the other night and he was telling me that there was a fairly complete 260c wagon in a Wrecking Yard over there. I will get him to send me a few pics as it might have some thing of worth on it. I am chasing a rear bumper at the moment so if you see one give me a hoy.

Definitely! Good luck with getting it on the road soon. I feel the same way!

This morning I received a new left hand taillight and indicator assembly (that wasn't easy to find! but it's done now) because the lights that it came with have been shattered and glued back up lol. So I'm gonna pull the lights out and fix it all up. Give them a better polish, replace the globes, redo the paint etc.

I am considering buying a wagon parts car that is available to me, but it's in NSW and I don't have any space for a parts car where I am atm. Anyway enough sh*t talking I better get to work. I didn't take the day off to be on the computer! hahaha

Bit more progress. New tail light compared to the old one. Also got the indicator to sit next to it and the frames etc
[ img ]
That was before I gave it a polish but it got dark so I didn't get any after photos. Only one globe was working in the tail light assembly too so now it has four working twin filament globes, looks classy with the nice long tail lights all lit up. Still gotta do up those frames and get them looking shmick but everything takes time

Finished off this repair, just need to put the trim back on now

And I tried numerous times to clean up my sun-visors, using different solvents etc. They are in pretty awful condition but I couldn't find anything to replace them with at the wreckers readily, so I just painted them with vinyl dye. The headlining in the car is cream but I think these look better in black anyway, because when they are down, they match the rest of the interior from the outside of the car.

The sun visors look good. I cant belive you found a tailight so quickly. For what is suppose to be a rare car you are doing fairly well for parts mate. When is it going in for RWC

Good work on the rust repair

Roadworthy booked in for Tuesday morning. I've got my work cut out this weekend. I got the pressure washer out again today because I decided I didn't do a good enough job the first time. Well... I think I'm gonna need to spend as much time cleaning the driveway as I will working on the car that much crap came off! lol
