Thanks guys. No real headway on the gearbox situation... had to move out of my factory which stuffed everything up. Putting the Z car clutch in curiously changed the alignment of the clutch fork quite drastically - even with the same throwout bearing.

FYI This car is running and not turbocharged.

Chucked on the Z-Car clutch, original 3spd and installed it in the car. Actually had some geometry problems with the Z-Car throwout bearing and the standard clutch slave - had to make a long pushrod because nothing lined up :/

Removed the front half of the Z-car pulley to have the bare minimum.

[ img ]

Made a header tank for the coolant bypass circuit
[ img ]
[ img ]

Ran the whole bypass system through the Z-car tube (may replace this with bigger stainless tube in the future, but this was the biggest I had at the time)
[ img ]

Cut all the hoses and connected it up, with the standard carburettor and original headers that I ported out the bosses on and port-matched to the motor.

Then decided I didn't have a good signal flow going past the thermostat so added the sixth coolant outlet, and 3D Printed a plastic coolant restrictor (about 14mm I.D.)

I don't think I'm gonna boost the car after all, sorry for the disappointment. Most likely I will install the SU's that came with the motor, replace the exhaust and call it a day.

Hi Hezath
You seem to know your way around Cedics so Do you know where I can get a set of fender mirrors from? Been looking but Japanese sites that speak English don't reply and I don't want ebay ones

Sourcing fender mirrors is a little tricky. Mine are off a B310 (http://cdn.paultan.org/image/B310.jpg) and are basically the same as 330 ones. I can't recall what the Jap translation is for 'fender mirrors' is, but when you find out what it is, search Yahoo Auctions (JP), find the auction you want, then contact ImportMonster, Jesse Streeter etc. and they will bid on them and bring them over. Dealing with Japanese sellers directly... forget about it. They aren't interested hahaha

You have to boost this thing, or at least put on bike carb injection for some awesome noise.

I don't know if anyone still goes on this forum lol. Anyway. I am actually working on my wagon again. Have been flat out for ages in fact.

Imported a 2-Way H190 LSD Diff Centre from Japan, arrived in decent nick but expected it was due for a once-over.

[ img ]
[ img ]

The LSD unit was only holding about 20ft.lb of breakaway/slip torque, I configured the existing bits a different way and got it up to 30ft.lb
[ img ]
[ img ]

I figured that wasn't really adequate, so bought some new clutch parts from Stewart Wilkins Performance in Sydney and that got it to 80 ft.lb which I was pretty stoked with. Being a two way it'll ramp up harder under load too.
[ img ]

Not really a fan of those collapsible sheet metal tubes that they put on diff pinions, so as per the old 3.9 centre - I turned up a solid replacement and cut it exactly to length so that it has a few thou of bearing preload once torqued to... as tight as I could get it.

[ img ]
[ img ]

All done :)
[ img ]

In the car now. Still haven't driven it as I'm busy under the bonnet.

The actual current work has been as follows:

Early this year I found a period-correct custom-made Draw-Thru kit that was on a C210 Skyline. Bought it from interstate without really knowing what I was looking at.
[ img ]

Old school Twin-Scroll. Cool lol. Time to learn about turbos!
[ img ]

V-Band on the rear housing was in bad condition and really thick. No modern V-Band clamps would even reach over it. Cut the collar off the existing dump (wasn't going to fit my engine bay anyway) and turned it into something workable.
[ img ]
[ img ]
[ img ]

Manifold was a funny custom fabricated 1pce thing (exhaust and intake in one). Quite nicely made though, considering the level of tech we're talking about.
[ img ]

Had my mate hydro-blast it.
[ img ]

Spent a bit of time changing the position of the V-Band for the wastegate, as it didn't clear my lower control arm. Also the collar needed to be adjusted like the rear housing required. Now it's about 2mm from the block, the lower control arm and the front crossmember. Not readily serviceable lol. Hope it works!
[ img ]

The 1pce design obviously means that the whole thing will get fairly hot from the exhaust housing. It wasn't really feasible to run coolant through the plenum so I just cut slots most of the way through the flange to at least limit the heat transfer
[ img ]

Removed the standard heater tap as it was exactly where the dump pipe needed to go. Welded a universal one to a factory Y-Fitting on the driver's side of the engine bay (part of the radiator bypass circuit), re-routed the cable and had to reverse the heater tap to open-close with opposite polarity.
[ img ]

Basically made a whole new header tank for the improved cooling system I've got. The threaded fitting near the top is the inlet for all of the small head outlet hoses, it has an outlet that goes behind the motor for the bypass circuit, and the other barb fitting will also flow through the heater circuit when the tap is open.
[ img ]

Knocked this bad boy up. Would have used stainless in hindsight.
[ img ]
[ img ]
[ img ]
[ img ]
[ img ]
[ img ]

Was going to plumb the wastegate outlet back in, but ran out of material
[ img ]

And that's basically where I'm up to so far.

Yeah ken oath, Classic Japan is certainly the goal. I wanted to have it at Chopped but a bit too much work travel got in the way and stuff.
